Great book, great advice, and a very entertaining narrator.

This book reveals the "not-secret secret" for a good life: no nonsensical hacks or unpractical tricks, just real, proven, easy ways to feel good, stay healthy and live with intention.

I see connections to mindfulness and yoga (the a way of life, which includes the physical practice, but not limited to): the Finnish lifestyle and working-out our Sisu muscle seem to be about finding balance between comfort and discomfort... and pushing a bit further!

On a personal level, I'm pleased to discover I've been living this way for most of the last ten years -- but not enough time in nature though -- and the Sauna trips with friends are definitely the highlights of my Canadian winters.

And to make the pun an anonymous reviewer missed.... I loved it, start to Finnish! I will also listen again as it's a feel good, mood boosting, kind of book :)

Great content, poor delivery...

While the subject is extremely interesting, the narration is painfully robotic and I caught myself drifting away many times...
Midway through the book, it has only been stories and examples so far, which is somehow entertaining, but 5+ hours only to illustrate the 2 different mindsets, and more to come according to the chapters list... Really? I understand why so many real life examples are/can be needed, but I would have greatly appreciated a shortcut, like "when you get how and when the two mindsets manifest for you, go directly to the last chapter to learn how to do the shift".

He did it again...

Many personal development books left me with plenty of good intentions... fading away quickly after reading.

Not Gary's!

His "intense realness" made me feel like I was being coached, live, by a deeply caring Scott and his endearing accent, who was really pissed at my BS excuses! We were sitting at the pub, and he was gripping my shoulders, shouting straight in my face things so true about me that I couldn't pretend anymore!
Needless to say, after that, when you catch yourself doing that very lame thing, you can only laugh at your own ridiculousness... and you stop doing that sh*t!

Almost a magic pill - or more accurately, a magic kick in the butt!

Thank you Gary John Bishop for another invaluable growth tool.
Will listen again, it's that good!

A no BS reality check!

Nothing really new in this book, but the tone is so refreshing! Grounded, no BS.
Don't listen if you're not ready to own your sh*t and take responsibility for your life, you may feel offended.
...and the author/narrator's Scottish accent is so awesome, it almost feels like being coached by Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser --any Outlander fans in the audience?

EDIT: actually, after listening to his second book, if you feel triggered by his tone and straight forward tough love, he wants you to listen even more attentively - for your own good :)
