This book was recommended to me by someone who has similar tastes as myself in Science Fiction books, so I was eager to check it out. Rather than buy the book I figured I would try the Audible. The Audible version being the review here.

The story was ok, it had its moments and was engaging at times but didn't really draw me in. The story involves the transferred conscience of main character Bob to an electronic system. It then won out the right to go into space to check in to remote colonization possibilities only to have things go off track. Bob then begins creating more Bobs to help with tasks and it basically goes from there. Interesting, but not overly so for me. There are some humorous points but for the most part I found it a bit dry.

The Narrator Ray Porter was quite good, above average in reading style. Still not enough to garner more than 4 stars. 4 stars for the story but that is more realistically 3.75, however I'll round up as I can see potential in the story. Recommended? It was ok.

I was drawn to this title due to the nature of the beast that was being tracked. Paul Leroux. He was someone I was unfamiliar with however his back story of being an above average intelligence IT worker with a strong background in IT security and Cryptography interested me.

The story goes in to how he seamlessly delved in to the under world, his narcissism and sociopathic traits driving him to see how far he could go. In the end those traits were his downfall and will be again once he inevitably is finished with his trials.

His character was fascinating however the story was more on the level of a report in to how the 960 group went about getting him. On that level the reader for this Audible version of the book was perfect. Given that the author was unable to interview Paul Leroux explains the lack of detailed insight to the person, something I was hoping for. It might seem odd, but such things are fascinating to me about him like his interesting eating habits (he seemed to prefer very basic simple foods, a Big Mac over an artisan burger, when the option is presented). I also would like to have known more in-depth detail on what type of computer network and infrastructure he employed.

Overall, despite my bias, I feel this is a solid 4 stars rating. It's interesting and if you are into books about catching criminals this will not disappoint. The reading was well done and engaging and deserving of 4 stars for Audible as well.

This is an excellently written techno thriller. I picked it up in Audio format as I find myself having time that can be best spent listening to Audio books these days so thought this would be a good use of that time.

The story line is very engaging and the character development is well done. The technical descriptions used to describe various situations presented in the book are spot on, not overly technical just enough so to intrigue the listener (or reader). All in all very well put together.

From the Audio side the reader was decent. His change of voice for some characters seemed a bit awkward but maybe that's me. Otherwise very pleasant to listen to.

Definitely a 5 star listen, particularly if you like well thought out techno thrillers.

I am a fan of Ice-T and was interested in hearing Darlene Ortiz's story. That this book was narrated by her makes it extra interesting so I picked it up. I am so glad I did. This is truly worthy of a 5 star rating.

Darlene Ortiz narrates her story in a way only she could. You feel what she was feeling then and how she is feeling now. You can tell she still is in love with Ice-T and maybe wishes he would find his way back to her one day.

As I listened to her tell her story I could feel the emotion she felt coming from a crappy home life, finding those lights that got her away from it's darkness until finally hooking up with Ice-T and the rush of the roller coaster of that life until it all finally came crashing down. Throughout the story you get the feeling that Darlene Ortiz is a genuinely good soul with a spark to her that goes beyond the physical attractiveness that brought her to fame. It's really kind of cool to dig that and I did listening to this.

Very recommended to anyone who wants to hear a roller coaster life story that, even though it may not end like a fairy tale, the main character never stops shining.

I am an avid player and fan of World of Warcraft and own an original copy of this book. I picked up the Audio version, which is reviewed here, before getting on a plane as the cost was decent and I enjoy the opportunity to listen to a novel when it is read by the author.

I gave this audio book 3 stars for a few reasons. The story itself is far darker than I expected which is not a bad thing. Overall, I can honestly say that the history of the Horde as written by the author is pretty good and from a Warcraft fan I'd say very near 5 stars.

The voice of the author is nice and she does a good job telling the story but her voice is something more, in my opinion, suited to telling a more positive story than this one and so it doesn't really work for this audio book and therefore I give the reading of the story a 3 star.

When all is said and done, I will give this Audio Book 4 stars but just barely. That is mostly on personal preference. I was close to giving it 3 stars to be honest but on reflection, the history presented for a Warcraft fan is very good in my opinion and well written. I did enjoy the sound of the author's voice but it did not work with the story she was reading. Recommended for reading.

I am a huge fan of Patrick Swayze. My favorite movies of his are Road House and Point Break, guy flicks, but I also enjoyed his performance in North and South. When I saw this novel was put on Audible and read by the man himself, I had to get it.

The book is what I would expect of someone giving an over view of their life. It focuses more on the human side of his journey as a person, actor and husband. It also talks about his dealing with cancer. Unfortunately, it did not go much in to the movies and shows he made and what went on during those events which takes away from the biography when that is what you are hoping to read about.

I give the novel 4-plus stars only because I wanted more in-depth information about the works, he has done rather than the over view. Apart from that it was a very well done look back at his life and a hope for his struggle. If you are a Patrick Swayze fan this is a 5-star book, especially the audio book, very cool to hear him read his story. If you are looking for a more in depth read on what Patrick Swayze the actor went through while making movies, then this is not what you are looking for.

This was an exceptionally good biography on an amazing musician. I am a big fan of Thelonious Monk and his music and so had been wanting to read this biography for some time. When I had the chance to get it in Audio Book format for a decent price I jumped at it and am very glad I did.

The biography seems to be very thorough and covers not just Monk's life but also the social situations of the time periods he lived through. Going in depth in to the areas he lived in and what was going on in those areas at the time. This was well done and, for me, added to the story of his life.

As mentioned this is an audio book review and I was quite pleased with the narrator Sean Crisden. He kept me interested and engaged. A little awkward maybe were his attempts at accents of various individuals from the autobiography however, I thought they were done respectfully.

I give both the book and audio book 5 stars as it was very engaging and encompassing. I felt that I came away with a greater knowledgebase of Monk's life and what he went through. Definitely recommended to any Jazz fan as well to anyone with interest in jazz during Monk's time which is roughly the late 30s to early 70s.

This review is of the audio book version of this novel. As an audio book it gets 4.5 stars for presentation, good presentation and interesting story. As a book it's a solid 4.

I liked this story in that it was well documented and the writing style is very fluid. The story was well told and engaging.

The outlining of how Molly fell in to being the ring leader of some of the largest poker games in the US is quite compelling in it's simplicity. By that I mean she showed through perseverance and hard work in the face of situations that are less than ideal but have potential for large rewards can work out.

Molly worked at her game and it grew. When she had people trying to take it away from her she fought back, she didn't give up, and she again persevered. It wasn't until the end when it all came crashing in on her that you could see where her inexperience and blindness to certain situations lead to her downfall.

I would recommend this audio book, and novel, as a good listen, or read, on a long flight or drive. The story takes you in to the world of high stakes underground poker games, not amongst pros but people with money, and how someone who gets a shot at leading it can take the right steps to doing so then through inexperience in that world lose it all.

This is my first Audio Book review. That said I will offer thoughts more on the book itself with a side comment on the Audio Book itself.

This book is fairly interesting in that it's about a battle between two billionaire activist investors on either side of an investment. Ackman who shorted Herbal Life and Ichan who bet on its stock to rise. The key seemingly to be to prove whether or not Herbal Life was a pyramid scheme or not.

The documenting of this battle is quite interesting and a look in to all the players culminating with the judgement passed on Herbal Life was engaging. I give it 4 stars which should be really be more 4.25 as I found the writing only occasionally engaging the story did hold my interest.

From an Audio Book perspective, it was OK, definitely 4 stars. The reading was good but slightly bland, not boring though.

I would recommend this book if you are interested in Wall Street chess matches.
