Disappointing Turn In The Story

I understand why many readers are not too happy with the direction this series chose to follow. There are a few questionable choices that the MC makes which resulted in a rather terrible ending. Book 3: Mainly followed the formula of the previous 2 books and the established rules and power levels of the world. The MC is just as powerful and wise for his age and we can see and predict the natural power progression for the character. I wasn't too happy with how the school was portrayed in general. It was too anime for me. The instructors seemed to be barely above the power levels of the students and the school had very poor systems in place to deal with fights amongst children. Also, I really hope that Tess will stop being the damsel in distress. I don't like interesting female characters to be dropped to such levels. Book 4: SPOILERS ahead This is where everything took a turn for the worse. The established power levels of the world basically became irrelevant as this worlds equivalent of demons and angels made their appearance. They are so strong that they can basically wipe out all the other races on the continent with little effort. Cultivation novels usually make progression known early and stick to it. You don't change up the world at the last second, it makes the progression in the other 3 books seem useless. There were also a little too many plot holes and abandoned plot points. For one, Tess was supposed to be better, but she wasn't. Arthur acquired some super elixir but then never used it. Arthur also made some astounding discoveries and never shared them with the ruling council, why? The villains and their motivations were vague and were introduced very poorly. This all accumulated in a rushed and nonsensical ending. Why were some of the most famous warriors in the kingdom so impulsive, emotional and dumb. I don't mind cliffhangers per se, I just hate bad cliff hangers. And this one was atrocious. Nevertheless, I will give book 5 a try. Hopefully some of these points are addressed.

What and awful ending

I really enjoyed the first book despite the annoying nature of the MC. Its rare to find a book about science, vampires, city building all in one. The second book had all of what the first contained but was absolutely ruined by the ending. I do not care nor want to know what happens next and reading the synopsis of Book 3 makes me even less interested. Its disappointing that the author chose to basically make all of the MCs actions up until the ending useless.

I was sceptical after the first book but I really liked the general idea so I gave this one a shot. It's really good. Sums up the story from book 1 nicely and the character development is solid. My only issue would be the slow leveling, but that's subjective.

This is basically a PVP game in written form. I actually still have no idea what the story is. The class quests have a negligible story. I also don't understand the obsession high level players have with killing low levels. A solid 1/3 of this book is some high level clan spending hours chasing around a low level player. The kicker is, there is no benefit for doing this.

Ill give book 2 a shot and hopefully there is actually a story in there somewhere

I don't like when fantasy books try to force a political opinion. Regardless what your stance or view on homosexuality is, if I wanted to listen to someone preach to me about LGBT struggles and how homophobia is wrong, I would have bought a book from that specific section of the audible store.

Please stop ruining good lirpg stories with political opinions and LGBT mantra. Sad to see this book go down that path.

This was a very good story and I think its greatly underrated in the LITRPG world. The world is excellent and the female characters are actually real people, not simply sex objects. It doesn't sugar coat anything and I appreciate the HEMA references.

Overall, it's an excellent book and I would recommend any fantasy and LITRPG fan to get it. Narration by Jef was fantastic as always.

I think this is my favorite LITRPG book so far, and I have read a lot of them. The MC can log out, death isn't permanent, and yet there is still a drive for power and progression. The MC isn't as big a fool as in some other books. I can't wait for book 2.

My only criticism would be to ALLOCATE YOUR DAMN SKILL POINTS.

I've read and listened to a lot of LITRPG and obviously searched for more. This series was recommended to death so I gave it a shot.

It started off great and I was really enjoying a balanced and believable game world. The middle was slow but I still enjoyed it. However the ending is what ruined it.

First, after the main cast took on a massive number of named characters, it became very diluted. When the big bad was defeated I was happy. But I hate cheap way outs that he received in the end. Its lame, it's not believable and it causes a rubber banding effect. Bad guys who just get a cheap and easy access to their powers and then out level the MC is simply weak character creation.

Laslty, I absolutely despise when powers are conveniently forgotten. Either don't introduce them in the first place, or suck it up and deal with an OP MC. Artificial dumbing down of an MC is some of the worst decisions one can do in an RPG book where the whole point is to level and gain power.

Its okay overall. Not bad but far from good.
