Kate McKinnon and the rest of the star studded cast did a great job here. Irreverent, sarcastic and current. Fantastic. I really hope they do one of these again.

With his trademark mirth and boundless charisma, actor Nick Offerman brought the loveable shenanigans of Twain's adolescent hero to life in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Now, in yet another virtuosic performance, the actor proves that despite being separated by a span of over a century, his connection to the author and his work is undeniable and that theirs is a timeless collaboration that should not be missed.

I loved this little trip into fantasy. The only downside, as you listen and enjoy it, you know there won't be a sequel. :-(

PS: Offerman's narration is spot on.

Don't think of this a self help book.
Here's why:
It doesn't drag out the same points over and over again.
It doesn't give you examples of super humans achieving super feats.
It doesn't give you a formula for success
It's not trying to "inspire you" that's BS and we all know it.

The recommendations are actionable. They're not weird either. Unfortunately, for the most part, we are the summation of our habits. Changing those habits....

Making the changes described in this book won't be trivial either. But there are some quick hits you can apply right away. It's a horrible cliche but you might call them "life hacks".

Now having used that phrase I'm going to put my head in the toilet bowl and start flushing.

You should read this book after, at least, reading book one. It's a short story that broadens the background of the main characters of the series. Well worth reading, also explores a kind post-apocalyptic Britain in the near future. Well worth the expense :-)

Behind the seemingly innocuous façade of St Mary's, a different kind of historical research is taking place. They don't do 'time-travel' - they 'investigate major historical events in contemporary time'. Maintaining the appearance of harmless eccentrics is not always within their power - especially given their propensity for causing loud explosions when things get too quiet. A great story idea. Lots of adventure and very well written. I really enjoyed this book and have since started to listen to others in the series. The narrator is pretty good and subtle with the many British accents. Love the copious cups of tea and hard drinking, very brit.

You don't need to be a history geek to enjoy this book or the rest of the series. The dives into historical events are great stories and the thread of the protagonists life is interesting.

Onto book 10 and the series does not disappoint. I feel like the whole series is maturing nicely, McGill is a great protagonist, the characters around him are maturing in their development and a sufficient amount of new characters are being introduced. The new twist on Claver is very unexpected and you can see that developing this story line opens the door for many new possibilities in further books.

This is a series that I just snap up the books as soon as I see them and I've enjoyed them all. Keep em coming B.V.

I've enjoyed all the titles in this series so far. I'm really looking forward to #4 too. Great characters, believable dialogue, exciting, plausible- in a sci-fi sense.

Unlike many book series, this book has a full story, in fact the author could have ended the series with this book. I was very pleased to see #4 was in the works after I finished it. It's a great concept, there is some inevitable character attrition, (it's an apocalypse) the author introduces new characters very well. There's no question, I'll snap up the next episode in this saga as soon as it's available.

I've listened to 1-3 Omnibus and 4. I've enjoyed them immensely, I'm interested in what will happen to the characters. I like that plots are unfolding in the UK and North America. I have only one gripe, each book isn't a whole book, there are lots of books in the series but listening to all of them is going cost more than $300CAD it's really adding up.

I've liked the books so far but as a series habit goes it's getting as expensive as crack cocaine. Sure I can bust out a credit for each book but my listening habit is quite a bit more than 9 hours a month. The story is good and captivating though.

The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the Native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon came ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There went the good old days, when humans got killed only by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

It's not really serious, it's not ridiculous either. It's entertaining, fun, light and exciting. I burned through this book fast and bough the next in the series as soon I finished it. I'm currently enjoying SPECOPS just as much.

There a few military jargon bits that are not necessary near the beginning but it's not bad. Also RC Bray does a great job with the accents especially Bishop.

This was a great purchase for me. There was advice in there that I've taken to heart and applied as I was listening to it. I will listen again to ensure that I maintain my character improvement schedule. This is like good advice from a friend who genuinely cares.

Even before the pathetic SJW's got him in Ze's (ha ha) sights JBP has lived a real life, had some real knocks and has not been as isolated as others in his field may be. This guy is inspirational, and a real person, not perfect, but trying hard to figure stuff out, real.

I'm not religious, more like the opposite of religious, so be warned, the book has a LOT of references to the bible. JBP is not so dumb as to think that book is literally the word of god, but he does believe in god and christianity. That turned me off, I tried as hard as I could to listen to his bible references as metaphor, to some extent I managed that but there was many times I almost stopped listening. It was hard.

I don't knock anything off on the review because of his religious beliefs, because this book is about his beliefs, it's not an error. For those who are not religious it can be a tough pill to swallow. Given that, to me, Christopher Hitchens was one of the greatest people in human history and worked tirelessly to turn back the misery that religion has cursed the modern human with, I am conflicted.

I respect both men, in their own strengths, nobody is right about everything, not even Einstein. I got a lot out of the book, I think about the rules every day and I try, in my own way, to apply them. For that, this book is worth 100 times what I paid for it, maybe more.

I'm a grown up man, I have lot more to keep tidy than my bedroom. Hearing straight talk from JBP will do you no harm. Follow that straight talk and you can only improve.

This the new "Iron John".
