United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

I struggled to finish this one. Skippy's worm thing dragged on and on and it got tedious watching the ship get worse and worse but somehow beat increasingly wacky situations. The familiar characters are great and their life aboard ship is always entertaining.

The elite crew of the pirate ship UNS Flying Dutchman had a simple mission: determining whether the Thuranin are sending another starship to Earth. Along the way, they became sidetracked by securing a future for the UNEF troops on the planet Paradise. When asked whether Earth was now safe, their ancient alien AI responded "Not so much"...now they have to deal with the consequences.

Previous books have been better and the addition of a new "character" was annoying. It/she? felt forced in. I hope it pays off in the next book.

Cities all around the world reported strange alien vessels descending. Some saw them as the heralds of a new age; others fired everything they had at them. All were taken as the beams lashed down and drew them into the sky. Dean was left behind, seemingly the last man on Earth. A trail of clues left by his dead wife guides Dean on a perilous journey across America and beyond to learn the truth behind the mysterious ships and save humanity from its doom.

Fun discovery stage but then it got stupid. Once the aliens started revealing themselves it got predictable. In space a bunch of impossible happens and I deleted the book before I finished it. I feel bad for the narrator because he had to see it through to the end.

Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct. But political squabbles have a bad habit of dying hard, and the Brazilian probes are still trying to take out the competition. And the Bobs have picked a fight with an older, more powerful species with a large appetite and a short temper.

This book wasn't as engaging as the previous 2. I kept having to replay sections because my mind kept wandering. Bob's are fairly OP in this story so it just sort of tied everything up predictably.

The author had me right up until the last hour. he had a great story but couldn't figure out how to end it. The, it was all a dream, ending bugged me. No wait! Coming out of the dream was a dream, this is real. No wait, that was a dream.

I was expecting a bit of a hard scifi story but the moment Miller called them vomit zombies I returned the book. Vomit zombies in space? Cringe worthy stuff. The narrating was great though.
