To open a new series I think you need something special. I was a bit disappointed with the first 2/3rd of the book. I like the author's take on politics but when that's all there is I get board.
Example: why do I about the President's surrender? Wouldn't it be way more fun as a reader to follow that sub captain's nuclear retaliation only to learn he scored a hit, the only hit, of a lost war?
Anyway the last 3rd is worth it and as good anything Nuttall has produced so far. Hoping for more from other series too.

An absolute pleasure to read

These books make me want to be a Ranger. I loved how the authors did it. They seem to almost apologize for telling the story that way but they shouldn't say anything. Its great. Great fun.
There's a second part that fills in a lot of blanks. Again the authors almost apologize for it and advise that you can skip it. Well I guess if you want. If you don't like good things and had to hold your nose to endure a fantastically high caliber action epic then seriously forget you.

-And acetylene? like the bottles we had in shop class? I suppose it came from the forge. I like that you don't need to stick with standard issue gear, but anything the forge library.

Action packed scifi full of big ideas and surprise

Nobody does first contact like Ian Douglas. He uses a trick from a previous epic series but its still good.
Massive truly awesome space combat with a nod to real physics and astronomical scales make it spectacular and mind blowing.
Too bad though, the characters seem flat. I've read about 2 dozen Douglas books and the only ones I remember are Dev and Katya. -And president Konig. Grey. Greyson. Anyway I read this and loved it but I had to think about who was in it.

Talk about fulfilling! I enjoyed every minute. Masters wasn't my favorite Legionaire but he's grown on me.
The book starts with Andine too. Forget Nothing was made freeish & I listened to that just before reading this. Make sure you do that. I'm up for more Andine books. Nether ops vs Dark ops vs different Nether ops sounds like a good time.
Lots of Savages in this book. Kill team Ice is awesome. I love Savage Wars & would love more Tyrrus & Casper too. It's so cool to have McAfee & Wild Man involved in the mainline series.
Except for Prisma this whole book is about side characters & its still awesome. That's proof of some really great authors here. Very well done gentlemen. Keep them coming.

Superb insights into our wayward society.

This series reads like an adult cartoon. It got a few laughs. Think Futurama crossed with Red Dwarf. Not as good as Hitchhiker's Guide but does hit some interesting ideas.

Excellent next installment

Death Destroyer of Worlds is a great character. They are all so good. Nilo is awesome too. I wish Carter was around too for some reason. Blackleaf is very interesting. Really looking forward to the next book.

As for the #Masters theory of panspermia (thats the real name of the subject) I don't see why it can't be both. I'm sure some savages tried that depravity at some point. I think the Raptosaurians knew the Ancients so they are much older than human exploration.
honestly I prefer original aliens to cat man, dog man, lizard man. Seems a bit cartoonish but ok. at least go one step removed. Dog lizard. spider cat. Then give them some truly bizarre attribute if you want realistic aliens.

A Return to Sidon.

Sidon. That place the old Leiges talk about here and there and it lives up to the reverence.

Great read. Not what I expected but good one.

Very excellent. When I started this series this is the sort of story I was looking for. Cloak and Dagger ass kicking. Hoo-ah!

This book contains Savages. That sold the next book and saved the whole series.
Honestly I was getting bored with episodic Legion stories. It's like Star Trek. You could miss 5 shows and it wouldn't matter in the 6th. You could watch the shows out of order and it wouldn't matter.
Up to now this series felt like a continuation of Order of the Centurion and was going nowhere in a defunct galactic era thanks to the mainline series.
That all changes with the Savages, who I love to hate. This book delivered.
Make every book important; essential even. Game of Thrones > Star Trek.
