I really liked how the story was presented. The story unfolded in a series of case files and interviews as though somebody was recalling events of the past from some distant future. The interviewer is left unnamed which leaves a sense of mystery. And the multi cast works well for this presentation style. I'm looking forward to the next books!

The military, alien technology and conspiracy themes all remind me of Stargate for any other fans out there.

A brutally honest account of her experience on motherhood yet funny and enjoyable. The author doesn't place any expectation on how women should feel or react to motherhood, rather she remains true to her own experience and feelings. I'm a new mom and thoroughly enjoyed her story.

Variability in parenting styles

This book chronicles an American woman's experience raising her young children in Germany. It is mostly a compare and contrast piece between "American" parenting styles and "German" parenting styles although the author hints that there is a lot of variability among parenting in each country and it is hard to pinpoint a single style. Her case is that a style that promotes independence in children is best.
