This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. The characters are so intense and complex. But it is the story that will hook you, make you think deeply about some of the most controversial issues of love between two people of very different ages. This book is graphic and so it is not for people who don’t want to read about sex or violence. A whole lot to think about. The author is masterful at describing the connections between people that saves them from the intensity of human suffering while it ruins others.

Adam Kay shines a light on the reality of medical practice in this hilarious and stark memoir. He highlights the absurdity of expectations placed on doctors by the medical establishment and government policies such as the long work shifts that inevitably put everyone in danger, including docs. I didn’t expect this book to be a call to action but it really is. Powerful and important ending. I will definitely be reading more of his work!!

Having been raised in an extreme religious household myself, in Northern Canada, I can relate to the mind warping religious extremism and damage that creates in children. But the abuse, neglect and isolation that she was exposed to is unforgivable and heartbreaking. How people, under the guise of religious freedom, are allowed to abuse children is astounding. Her escape and realization of this brainwashing is the miracle. And now her story must be shared far and wide in hopes that it will save even one more child, and hopefully multitudes. Thank you, Tara, for this book. Your courage is astounding!

It’s about time this book is available! I love the comedy presentation of these always hard to hear facts about women’s experience throughout time. Critics are bound to say ‘get over it, it’s history and doesn’t exist anymore’ but that just shows how ignorant they remain. I love the authors, the delivery and the thoroughness. One of the best books I have read. A must read for all women and girls. Hey, why not change regular history books for this one. It’s a lot more informative and interesting. I couldn’t put it down. Way to go Megan and Merrill. You win!!!

This is my favourite narrator, he makes Kings novels remain creepy and mysterious. Really great read.

Not as scary as King can be but I still looked forward to listening whenever I could get a few spare minutes. If you like King, you will enjoy this read!

I love Ken Follet’s writing. I have been soaking up his books non stop since the fall when I discovered them. The story is great, but the narrator was so hard to listen to I almost quit the book. He seemed to get in to a better flow after the middle of the book but was so bad at the beginning it actually distracted from the story. I do recommend the book, as I am in love with all Follet’s books, but would advise to read this one rather than listen.

This is my third Ken Follet book in so many months. I can’t seem to stop listening! The book makes history come alive with tales that are dramatic, but not improbable. I was shocked near the end of this book with the decision over the fate of one character that I had come to love. It is a very detailed and political book that sometimes lagged briefly just telling the political backstories. But overall I throughly enjoyed it and would recommend it for anyone who loves Ken’s other books in this series.

Fully enjoyed this book. I have a long commute and I fall asleep listening to books and couldn’t wait to do both, which is a testament to how good the book is if I can look forward to commuting! Love the history and drama. Well worth reading!
