Publisher's Summary

With well over 200 million copies sold, this novel ranks among the most famous works in the history of fictional literature. It depicts the plight of the French peasantry demoralized by the French aristocracy in the years leading up to the revolution, the corresponding brutality demonstrated by the revolutionaries toward the former aristocrats in the early years of the revolution, and many unflattering social parallels with life in London during the same time period.

Great Classic

Growing up in the Middle East and attending a German school, my education incorporated a mix between Arabian and Germanic literature.

I decided to expose myself further to some of the English literary cannon and picked Charles Dickens to start.

Glad I did. Entertaining and engaging book and story. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to use my imagination and to visualize what the author is describing.

Great Expectations next ...

Excellent performance

Even Yoda makes an appearance in this Dickens’ classic.

I had a hard time following the story because I am not used to 19th century literature. However, I stuck with it and found a beauty to the storytelling that is different from my usual books. I will listen to it again.

The audio is has to much bass. Too much detail.

I've not been lucky the past few months. Prior to the last 4 months I had only disliked 2 books.
Now of my last 4, it's 3! All of them have a central theme that turns me off... Too much detail. I don't need to know what color are the rocks on the road, the leaves, etc... or which way the wind is blowing when it has no relevance to the story except it's just "there".

Also, the audio. This is the first time I find a bad audio. There is way too much bass and not enough clarity.
