Description

The inspiring, life-changing best seller by the author of Leaders Eat Last and Together Is Better.

In 2009 Simon Sinek started a movement to help people become more inspired at work and, in turn, inspire their colleagues and customers. Since then, millions have been touched by the power of his ideas, including more than 28 million who've watched his TED Talk based on Start with Why - the third most popular TED video of all time.

Sinek starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over?

People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers had little in common, but they all started with why. They realized that people won't truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the why behind it.

Start with Why shows that the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way - and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with why.

Best book ever listened to

I listen/read at least 30 books a year, and this book is by far one of the best (if not the best) and, hands down, the most inspiring one.

Im not sure if he will ever see this:

Thank you for everything Simon Sinek

Love it!

Very inspiring book that explains clearly the why. Only thing is that the examples (eg Apple) used are a bit outdated since the book was originally published in 2009.

Must-read!

The book is centered on an eye-opening concept, useful especially for entrepreneurs, but anyone could benefit from it.

good message, but very repetitive.

it seemed almost like it was endorsed by Apple. I like Simon's work, but this one seemed to drag on a little.

Starting with why makes sense

This is a great message, and can apply to more than just business. When know why you do something, what and how you have to do it become easy.

Goosebumps

Excellent book everyone should read. Chapter 13 is incredibly powerfull: "I was thinking of something even worse than the thought suicide for an entrepreneur... I was thinking about getting a job."

Best book ever read!

This book is a MUST read! Finally, a book that really helps you discover that finding your "why" (aka purpose) is the FIRST thing you should do way before finding out what results you want (I.e success, money, etc). I absolutely love this concept and I'm so excited to start discovering my why.

Good but could have made his point in 20 pages

Important. Insightful. Enjoyable. Can summarize in 3 mins. The rest is just gratuitous.

What is your compass?

With a clear purpose, a well defined and articulated "why", exceptional success of the "how" (product, brand, service, business) becomes possible. The book draws on many examples, most prominently Apple. I found the book interesting in a general kind of way, but it lacks applicability for me. Perhaps I am too much of a "how" person, too execution focused. A good book and worth the read.

Fantastic!!

This was such a great book. Sinek gives examples of how “why” shapes the starting point and direction of ANY endeavor a person embarks on. Without “why” we are simply moving day to day without any real direction. Whether it’s a career your looking for, a hobby or philanthropic pursuit, knowing your “why” will identify if this is a flash in the pan idea or something that you can inspire others to join you in. A great listen! I had a hard time pausing during my road trips! Will definitely be looking into Sinek’s other books
