Wonderful Historical Romance

I've read or listened to this story at least half a dozen times, and it always makes me smile.

Again and again

I’m not ashamed to say I have read or listened to a lot of lesbian romantic fiction. This is one of the best. The story is fantastic and the narrator does such a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. When I don’t know what to read next, I always know I can come back to this book and its sequel.

This story will stay with me

It's not often I say this - I didn't want this book to end. Although I don't usually read 'historical' fiction, I should have known this would be a quality piece of work - it is written by Jae after all. I truly enjoyed the narration as well. This is the kind of book that I will be thinking about for a long time. I'm looking forward to listening to the sequel as well.

Terrific story. Narrator needs work.

I love historical fiction and this is a great story. It brings out many aspects of the travelling of the Oregon Trail that I hadn't thought of before. However, the narrator threw me off a bunch of times - words that were mispronounced, pauses in awkward places in the sentence. I would think twice before buying an audiobook with this narrator again.

Amazing!!!

I loved the book. I loved the author. Now, I love this Narrator (capitol N).

One teeny tinytiny issue is that Luke said Nora's lines twice. That's it. I love it all.

This story hit home

I typically don’t listen to historical romances but JAE has a way of writing these stories that really pull me in. And this story really affected me. For anyone who has felt like they had to hide their true selves (even from the people closest to them) for fear of harm or rejection, this story is just so relatable and so touching. The narration was also top notch. Brody Cowan’s voice was annoyingly nasal but there were so many characters, male and female and each one had a distinct voice that matched the personality of the character. That’s incredibly hard to do. Amazing job, Hayden Bishop

Nice story, loved the setting, narrator was distracting

The story was good and engaging, an easy read without too much unnecessary drama. Great perspective on an LGBT relationship in the 1800’s.

The narrator on the other hand was just a distraction to the story and not a help. Her character voices were hard to listen to at times, but the main problem was how many words she mispronounced! I don’t know how an audiobook gets made at this level and they leave in so many mispronounced and even flubbed words.

I do recommend the story and if you can look past the issues with the narration it’s definitely worth a listen.
