Self-Identity
Janet Mock's personal story is authentic, candid and gutsy. In a conversational approach, she tells her story, offering to us, the readers, a powerful challenge to revisit our ignorance, our presumptions, our biases, and most importantly, our unconscious dismissal of the relevance of the voices of trans people. This book could be helpful to foster a deeper understanding of trans journeys because Janet explains terminology, societal limitations and how race and privilege affect that journey in a broader sense. This book is also an invitation to look inward at our own various and unique paths to self-identity. Redefining Realness allowed me into the intimacy of someone else's story in a way that invited me deeper into my own story.

What a life story!
Janet, sheds light on her brave journey to her self. Although she always knew she was a girl, it was so hard for her to truly exist. I am thankful that she shared her story as it can help so many others trans people.

genuine, thoughtful, poignant
Mock is articulate, a talented storyteller, and so forthcoming in her own vulnerability that I was moved to tears multiple times while listening to her. her story touched me and reminded me that no one is alone in struggling, and dear friendships can truly save lives when they support us for who we actually are. thank you Janet, thank you
