Description
Rose Jolliffe is an idealistic young woman living on a farm with her family in Saskatchewan. After Canada declares war against Germany in World War II, she joins the British Women's Auxiliary Air Force as an aerial photographic interpreter. Working with intelligence officers at RAF Medmenham in England, Rose spies on the enemy from the sky. When her commanding officer, Gideon Fowler, sets his sights on Rose both professionally and personally, her prospects look bright. But can he be trusted? As she becomes increasingly disillusioned by the destruction of war and Gideon's affections, tragedy strikes, and Rose's world falls apart. Rose struggles to rebuild her shattered life and finds that victory ultimately lies within herself.

Well researched Canadian feminist perspective
I was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed Bird’s Eye View! Elinor Florence performed meticulous research to craft a unique story of a Canadian woman in the Air Force during WWII. My only criticism of the novel lies with the cold fish of a protagonist, whom I found sterile and standoffish. (Even as the main character’s haughtiness was acknowledged mid-way through the book, I didn’t find any change or growth in character). This may have been the result of the author’s extensive experience as an objective journalist, or I may have been influenced by the narrator's flat narration. Aside from this, it was a pleasant yarn of a tale! For fans of war fiction (particularly for those seeking a feminist perspective), I would definitely recommend this book. #Audible1

What a great read
I don’t usually read fiction, however i met the author, Elinor,in a grande prairie book store. She informed me that both of her two books were very real life like and not all far fetched.
This novel in particular she said had a few love twists and was about a young women who joined the Air Force. I was in the Canadian forced myself, so I already felt as though I could relate to this character. I bought this book on audible. And very much enjoyed it thoroughly.
She has a wonderful way with words. So much so, she describes things such as the damp clothing smell that the experiences whilst in England at war.
I can’t wait until her other novel gets on audible. It’s about the area I was raised around peace river!
It is in my opinion that this book deserves a big ol five stars. I highly recommend this great little light read/listen.
