Description
This is the ultimate guide with three audiobooks about blacksmithing projects, history, definitions, step-by-step tutorials, and much more. A unique combo with oceans of information. Here are the three audiobooks, with each their own special content.
Book 1: The basics are all explained in this easy guide for the beginner who is looking for a new hobby or passion. Blacksmithing is a lot of fun, and the ancient trade hasn’t been lost to those who are interested in it. Learn, among others:
- Which materials to use, and which not to use
- Fundamentals, techniques, and tips to perfect the skills
- All about connecting metals, hardening, tempering, and chiseling
- The difference between hot and cold chisels and how to apply them
- Hammer tips, as well as anvil, tongs, and other materials to master and understand
- Safety precautions for the careful handicraft person
Book 2: If you’re looking for more information about blacksmithing, projects, and the history of blacksmithing, you’re at the right place. You might already know what blacksmithing is, or you have started some things in the past. Here is a guide that will take you to the next level. You’ll hear, for example:
- Where the name, the trade, and other aspects of blacksmithing come from
- How to weld and forge weld
- Materials, tools, and other things you should use to accomplish your blacksmithing goals
- Olet fitting types and applications
- Six steps to make a sword
- Specifics about silversmithing, platinum rings, and forging Japanese swords
Book 3: With the rise of the Internet, the global community, and the means of transportation and technology, how is one to stand out among the crowds and start a blacksmithing business from scratch? I won’t tell you that it’s easy, but it’s perfectly possible for those who put some effort into specific research targeted at customers who are into those things. In this guide, you’ll hear:
- To start off, we’ll talk about forged round bars.
- Then, we talk about how to create a business out of your DIY blacksmithing projects.
- After that, we’ll go over platforms such as Facebook, Etsy, YouTube, and ads.
- We’ll discuss how to maximize profits and efficiency in your shop and your business.
- We’ll finish up with some extra information about metal railing, D2 steel, and hard cutting tool materials.
Curious yet? Then don’t wait and start listening, so you don’t have to remain in the dark. Save yourself the time, and learn from what worked for me. I will see you in the first chapter!

Missleading Title.
I like the history that is provided but there is serious lack of descriptive information. The processes and tools are described in a way that no beginner would comprehend. I got this book hoping to get a more detailed description of the tools and trade but I wasnt able to pull much away. like what is a swage? or how are they made? I was also hoping for a more description on processes, such as tempering for instance, as I have gathered it is one of the hardest things to master in regards to Blacksmithing.
I feel this is a good start to what could be a great tool for new black smiths. It just needs more information.

Not an Audiobook
This is not an audiobook. This is an ebook that someone just read out loud.

Not the greatest
The history part was kinda neat but it was mostly just a lot of reiteration the same stuff. Get a LOT more useful info off of YouTube and doesn't cost you anything.

A lot of helpful information
This book offered a lot of helpful information on the metallurgical side of blacksmithing, as well as some good tips and tricks for forging, and a good overall view of what blacksmithing and bladesmithing entails. However, there were some odd topics for a couple chapters, regarding acquiring gold in the world of warcraft game, that I found to be completely useless information to me. But, I suppose if you are a player of the game, and an aspiring smith, you may enjoy it, though I feel it was unnecessary and unhelpful. A solid book overall, despite a few odd chapters and projects.

Not worth it
didn't learn anything from this. I learned more from a ten minute video on YouTube. Calling this the "ultimate guide" is a far stretch.

I regret wasting my credit on this.
Absolute waste of time. You'd find more useful blacksmithing history and basics on Wikipedia. When and where the author deigns to indulge in anything more than rote listing of terminology, they lean heavily on incorrect and overly simplified explanations.
Other reviews mention the segues about World of Warcraft, honestly I don't know if that's true as I didn't make it that far before wanting to throw my hammer into my scrap pile.

Blacksmith manual with ADD
Not worth a credit.
Like having my child with ADD telling you a story
It starts a few good blacksmithing tips and some history but then, throughout the 3 books in this audio compilation, the topics start to jump around. At one point it reads like a technical manual listing differnt types of steel stock but not their uses, then it jumps into how to make in game money for world of war craft. it it ends the book with a project on how to make a coat Hager Christmas tree.
it seems more like an attempt at AI trying to make a book, but not quite getting there. alot of info Is suspect or seems Wikipedia sourced (in the manner of detail or lack thereof)

Not a bad listen
Biggest dislike - the random and completely desperate attempt to add in World Of Warcraft references. I have a feeling that WOW has been a big influence in the author’s life and hobbies. But it felt so disjointed to the rest of the info that I skipped it in the second portion.
Otherwise, this is a great book for anyone brand new to forging and blacksmithing. You learn a lot about the metals and history of metal working. A few neat projects and some great info on tools. Definitely not a book for a moderately experienced person and above.

not worth it
a few helpful tidbits of information but overall full of filler and reads like a technical specification manual you would lookup online. The author goes off topic often which makes the audio have an awkward flow. do not waste your money.

Severe Disappointment
Here is a small list of things you will NOT learn in this book:
- what a flatter hammer is (according to the author there are only three types of hammers; lol!)
- what the difference between a striking and struck tool is
- what 1045 steel is and what it is good for (or A36 or anything at all about AISI designations)
- how to soften only the struck end of a tool
- anything at all about different kinds of tongs
- what mushrooming on a tool is and what to do about it
- the differences in performance between different forge types (gas, coal, etc)
- anything about forge welding and the use of fluxes
- more than one way to do something (e.g. how to make a bolt head without a special heading tool)
- anything about hardie tools
- the difference between an oxidizing and reducing flame
- how to work with anything non-ferrous (copper, aluminum, brass, bronze)
The few instructions that are included remind me of a joke I once read about how to draw an owl: "step one: draw a circle; step 2: draw the rest of the owl". Lengthy detail is provided for how to make gold in World of Warcraft as well as a useless list of olet fittings.
