Publisher's Summary

It’s time to go back home.

In the years since Lindon left Sacred Valley, he has attained power beyond anything his family thought possible. Now he’ll have to put those powers to the test, because a Dreadgod is on its way.

Lindon and his allies set out to evacuate the valley before the arrival of the Wandering Titan, but their sacred arts are weakened by an ancient curse. They’ll have to persuade the squabbling inhabitants of Sacred Valley to leave behind their home and set off into the outside world.

But it has been a long time since Lindon left, and more has changed than he realized.

He has always sought power to save his family…but now he might be too late.

Wow these are good

Really great narration, I prefer to listen to this series rather then read it it! Another great book! Number nine and they are if anything getting better. I look forward to the next book.

I need more

The only problem with this book is that its not 100 hours longer. Wight proves that its not just about fighting itself, but the reasons behind it, the people who fight, and aftermath of the fighting. I have shoveled alotta garbage in my ears since the last book came out, and very few if any met the standards of cradle.

This book is admittedly not as grand as Wintersteel, seeing as that book was the ending of the uncrowned king tournament, but it does set the foundation for some crazy sequels.

Keep em coming Will.

Another banger from Will Wight!!

I got the audiobook and the kindle book, just so I can experience the book in multiple ways. Excited for more of the Expanded Universe.

Resolution

For tying up parts of the story, this might be the best in the series.

Could have use another draft.

I'm totally fine with all the story beats of this book and it sets up the series going forward well enough. However it has a ticking clock plot point and instead of lending urgency to things it just forces characters in to the "hurry up and wait" holding pattern for most of the book. As a result all the character interaction I've been waiting for get cut short with "we don't have time for this now!" then goes on to a full chapter of administrative cat herding instead. This makes pacing and focus of the story feel off, just enough so the whole thing is less satisficing an experience though out then I've come to expect from the series. Which is all a long way of saying I liked rather then loved this one.
