Description

Kill the traitor-prince.

The cry for Wes Malcolm's death has followed him from Earth all the way to Avalon, and an entire new breed of Hordebeast has taken up the call. Howling wolf-men now hunt him as an escaped convict, a false teacher, and a traitor to a legacy he had rejected immediately. Worse yet, he must fight not only for his own freedom, but for the prisoners he rescued from the dungeon on this ruined world.

Now he needs to evade the monsters long enough to get the former hostages to safety, then grow strong enough to battle his hunters and win. To do so, he’s going to have to delve into the ruins of this world and discover ghosts and secrets from another age, including the hidden history of Earth itself.

He cannot fall here. Too many worlds have put their hope in him.

Sequel to Downfall and Rise. Epic Portal Fantasy with LITRPG/GameLit elements.

Features profanity and adult themes. Also features a multi-bodied alien nerd-girl with a penchant for wearing ironic Earth t-shirts as a love interest. You have been warned.

best story I have ever become part of.

I rage... I rage for all the sadness and pain and damage for the main character.
I scream and rage for all the evil done to one person.
i look forward to the next in the saga with hopes that the rage will be applied adequately to those deserving.
thank you for this emotional roller coaster, this tale, this view of someones life.
thank you.

The most pathetic MC he crys 40% of the book!

I have listened to hundreds of books and I can honestly say this is my first negative review!! First off the performance was amazing, but NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR A CRYING MC ALMOST THE WHOLE TIME!!! WHAT THE CRYING MC IS GOING ON WITH THIS 2ND BOOK!!

Pseudo ptsd shallow side characters and slow story

Author seems like he wants to write a darker character thru this torture in the past book which feels shallow. The side character mainly feel like background noise and only provide one liners to push the story forward making them generic and one dimensional. Lastly most of the story drags on, most of the story takes place in his head and asking questions with avalon. I get that its supposed to be "world building" but a lot of it is unnecessary noise and very little story progression. I hope book 3 gets better since I enjoyed the 1st book.

the only saving grace are the two narrators.

Its raw and it tugs at your soul...

An excellent sequel. The writing is amazing and the voice acting is... Phenomenal! The raw emotion and the gutteral rage portrayed by the voice actors through the characters is just AWEsome, Extraordinary, Amazing, Outstanding and absolutely gut wrenching! The author and the voice actors make one of the most powerful combinations I've ever listened to and I will desperately keep checking for the next book.

A disappointing mess

while I loved the first book, most of the elements that made it special didn't carry over to the second book.

instead of fighting the main villains of the first book, we go off on a huge tangent discovering unrelated ancient history. When the main character needs power, it just so happens that there's a dungeon in his back yard full of unrelated monsters. when an ancient evil god breaks free of his prison, it just so happens a good god is there to smack him down five seconds later like a naughty puppy dog and have a long conversation with the MC about more stupid ancient history.

Look, the first book was great because it focused less on what happened in the past and more on what was happening right now. it was better when there was an evil presence telling evil people how to be more evil by teaming up with evil monsters and creating weird technology, because it made sense and it was immediately relevant.

When the main character then ignores the things which ruined his life to have a 6 hour fight with spooky skeletons instead of fighting the real evil, I start to get annoyed. the skeletons could easily have been tied into the main plot better, and them suddenly appearing on a planet that's been monitored for literally thousands of years by an omniscient PLANET is bullshit, and I don't care what excuses you have.

This book should've been about securing Avalon and then investigating the rest of the worlds, instead, we spend half of the book raiding a dungeon, technically for prisoners, but the chain of events leading there gets to be a jenga tower that's getting more and more precarious.

Too much boohoo drama

I had to skip an hour or more of the lame mental health issues to enjoy the rest of the book but all in all it wasn’t bad enough to kill the whole series. Now that the MC is getting strong enough to stand up for himself maybe the rest of the series will be better.

ehh.... it was ok...

I think this book was well written and preformed.

so, I have a couple observations that may give others a challenge to finish the book.

1st. entirely too much dwelling and expounding on the trauma the MC overcame. which equals to a a bitchy whiney person people loose envestment in.
Its like the author took a class in psychology while writing that part of the book. best case Scenario cause other people will call it something else rude and I don't know the guy. but there was too much of that stuff happening in the transitional parts of the book when real world mechanics and thought processes could have been employed.

2nd Jessica you are amazing and amazingly ear piercing. I'm sure that is what the effect should have been and wow.... you nailed it so well people at work and the market asked me if I was ok during some of the fairy rants. Buyer Beware.

3rd I can't help but feel there is something of a chunk of story missing in this book. like it was rewriten to be a transitional peice alot of first book revisits and a few good seeds to spin up the third book but not enough done overall to keep the story line going. I'm sure the 2nd and third book could be edited together for a complete continuous read. I mean there are 7 other worlds on the list. All ya have to do is talk to the people as much as you talk to the enemy. poof. 7 series book with alot less emo distraction.
