Publisher's Summary
An isolated Swedish town. A deaf reporter terrified of nature. A dense spruce forest overdue for harvest. A pair of eyeless hunters found murdered in the woods.
It's week one of the Swedish elk hunt, and the sound of gunfire is everywhere. When Tuva Moodyson investigates the story that could make her career, she stumbles on a web of secrets that knit Gavrik town together.
Are the latest murders connected to the Medusa killings 20 years ago? Is someone following her? Why take the eyes? Tuva must face her demons and venture deep into the woods to stop the killer and write the story. And then get the hell out of Gavrik.

Can’t wait for the sequel
Loved this book and the narration - it was like watching a movie in my mind. Just the right about of detail. I did not see the ending coming. Very well done.
I’m looking forward to listening to the sequel.

Would not recommend
I found the ending of this book to be extremely frustrating and I will not be purchasing another audiobook from the author. Mild spoilers below.
The majority of the book is a bunch is filler with numerous red herring, absurd characters that leads you to guess the actual killers identify based on the fact they are the most normal individual in the story. The true killers motivations are basically an after thought and but revealed until the end of the story.

Great Atmospheric Mystery!
This was good! I am glad I bought it as Audibles Daily Deal. I like thrillers where they have something a ~little~ different and this one definitely does. However, I can’t comment on if it is good representation of a deaf character in terms of disability portrayal but I like that Tuva was a badass who didn’t let anything stop her. I will say though that there were a few times I rolled my eyes because this was a woman written by a man and you could tell. But I recommend reading this!

Enjoyable
Good story and unlike some I found the narrator really added to the mood and location of the story for me. I suggest listening to the sample to see if you like it or not. I'm moving on to book 2 in the series!

horrible narration
I have listened to a lot of audiobooks, and have heard my share of bad narrators, but this one takes the prize for absolute worst. It was actually painful to listen to, and I just could not finish.
The narration completely ruined it.
I had to listen at 1.75 just to get it to sound like an almost normal rate of speech. She spoke so slowly! Her voice was sluggish, dreamy and completely without affect. Her accent was vaguely Scandinavian, vaguely posh English, and it didn't help. I can't. I can't explain just how grating and horrible it was. No exaggeration.
I think I'm going to try to find a physical copy of the book, because the story may have been interesting? Honestly, I couldn't say for sure because it was so hard to concentrate on it.
Edit: I found a physical copy, and while it was much better than the audio version, I could still hear that ridiculously bad narration in my head. Imagine someone with a very slow, soft voice saying "it almost blew my knickers off." UUUURGH.
It was a Scandi Noir written by an English guy and you could tell. It was not particularly good, and it felt inauthentic.

Well Done!
I wasn't sure when I bought it but I really enjoyed it. The accent and cadence of the performance helped set the story in Sweden for me. Great story, great performance...on to the sequel!

Suspenseful
I found this book to be very much like watching a story unfolding in front of me. The entirely normal parts interspersed with the suspense! Was really good!
