We all know we should save for retirement, right? But we don't. We're just not sure where to start...or when. Experts use complicated terminology and conjure up magic numbers. Do we really need to set aside a million dollars? And if we don't have a snowball's chance in hell of saving that much, should we even bother to try? Gail's answers are no and yes - no, there is no magic number that fits everyone, and yes, you must bother! The hardest part of retirement planning is getting started, so Gail walks you through the steps to put momentum on your side.

Erin Skye Kelly wrote Get the Hell Out of Debt after her own struggle to become consumer-debt free. She was tired of listening to middle-aged men in suits tell her to consolidate and refinance her debt when all that seemed to happen was she’d end up in more of it while they profited from it. When Kelly figured out the two most important tools to money management - and started achieving massive results- other women wanted to join in on the debt-free journey. Over the past five years, Dane Jensen has asked these questions of thousands of high performers - from Olympic gold medalists to Navy SEALs, politicians, executives, and busy parents. What has emerged from these conversations is that while everyone’s experiences under pressure are unique, pressure follows patterns and develops in predictable ways. In her late 20s, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. Even after she worked her way out of nearly $30,000 of consumer debt, her old habits took hold again. When she realized that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy - only keeping her from meeting her goals - she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year. The Year of Less documents Cait's life for 12 months during which she bought only consumables.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Founded in London in 1717 as a way of binding men in fellowship, Freemasonry proved so addictive that within two decades it had spread across the globe. Masonic influence became pervasive. Under George Washington, the Craft became a creed for the new American nation. Masonic networks held the British empire together. Under Napoleon, the Craft became a tool of authoritarianism and then a cover for revolutionary conspiracy. Both the Mormon Church and the Sicilian mafia owe their origins to Freemasonry.

Gail does a great job with this. I don't have a debt problem but it was a free offer for me so I gave it a listen anyway. There is a lot of info on how to get and stay out of debt but there is also a lot of great information that I found helpful on investing for retirement, insurance, etc. 5 stars!

Masterful, definitive and applicable.
Be prepared to change.
The definitive lesson from this book is: if you don't mean it when you say " I want to dig myself out of debt", just put it down.
This book has so much useful information it's hard not to write another book on how to apply it, but when you have that nagging feeling in the back of your mind that there always seems to be too much month left at the end of your money (her own catchphrase), this book becomes a must-listen/read.
Do yourself a huge favor. get this book, listen to it, start taking charge of your own life.

My mind hurts but I love this book
Honestly I’ve wanted to read this book for a year or two and decided to listen first. Part way through the audio I bought the kindle version too. I was a huge fan of Gail’s shows and an avid reader of her website when it was up and running. Glad I finally got the book. Worth every single penny and then some! A must read/listen for millennials!
