Publisher's Summary

The New York Times Bestseller

Fear. Grief. Loss. Betrayal. Rachel Hollis has felt all those things, and she knows you have too. Now, she takes you to the other side.

With her signature humor, heartfelt honesty, and intimate true-life stories, #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hollis shows listeners how to seize difficult moments for the learning experiences they are and the value and growth they provide.

Rachel Hollis sees you. As the millions who listened to her #1 New York Times bestsellers Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing, attend her RISE conferences and follow her on social media know, she also wants to see you transform.

When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

To Rachel, a life well-lived is one of purpose, focused only on the essentials. This is a small book about big feelings: inspirational, aspirational, and an anchor that shows that darkness can co-exist with the beautiful.

WOW

Have you ever sat in a church and thought that no one else was there and he or she was talking directly to you? I have. And now I have read a book that was written just for me, just when I needed it the most.
Who should read this book? Everyone.

I've never cried like this reading

So different from typical self help books, she's the sister you need to push you forward. Funny enough I unfollowed her after she posted that quarentine is a privilege in her mirror. Hearing of her divorce, I wanted to see if her opinions had changed. She is incredible and a gift to this world. Devoured this book. So grateful.

Absolutely love!

Literally didn’t see this book coming... what a surprise. Not at all about divorce but basically a “LIVE YOUR LIFE” theme and all the reasons why that matters. Just love Rach.

Worth every minute!

I was actually a bit judgemental before I read this book thinking how could she put something together that matters so fast in the midst of her marriage ending?! But she does it because Rachel Hollis has learned how to get things done and she's done this right! It's refreshingly real and thought-provoking and inspiring! I loved it! ❤️

Loved it!

Listened to this book as I would run and really enjoyed it from start to finish. Love that she narrates her own book, so good! Felt like a conversation more than reading a book.
