Publisher's Summary

She’s been waiting her whole life to meet a man like Alex. But he’s been waiting, too. And once he has her, he’ll never let her go....

Hannah has done everything to make sure her life is safe and secure. A long way from her unstable childhood growing up in foster care, she’s content with her sweet, little, messy apartment and her satisfying job as a social worker. She quietly worries that, aged 36, she might never fall in love. But otherwise her life is where she wants it to be.

Until, encouraged by her best friend to join a dating app, she meets Alex. He’s irresistibly handsome. He loves the same music as her. The same food as well. They both dream of travelling the world but agree they’d be equally happy escaping to a cottage by the beach in Devon. Both of them would love to own a Labrador one day. It’s like he’s made for her. It’s like he’s too good to be true.

Hannah’s friends aren’t so sure about him. But Hannah thinks he’s perfect.

Which is good. Because Alex knows she’s perfect for him, too. In fact, she’s exactly the girl he’s been looking for....

And nothing Hannah’s done to make her life safe will ever be enough.

A gripping and suspenseful psychological thriller about dark obsession and internet dating. Fans of The Wife Between Us, Friend Request, and Gone Girl will adore this twisted love story.

Praise for Sue Watson:

"Tense, atmospheric psychological thriller with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster. Impeccably written and a big fat 5***** from me. Awesome!" (Number one best-selling author Angela Marsons)

Horrible leading lady

I absolutely hated the main character. I kept listening because I wanted to see how it ended and was expecting some big shocker at the end which the author didn't deliver.

VERY ENJOYABLE LISTEN!

I absolutely loved this book, I was constantly wondering what Alex (the main male character would do next. I’ll admit it gets to be the same routine between Alex and Hannah (he’s a totally obsessed boyfriend) butttt either way this book will keep you on the edge of your seat, just have wait till the end chapters for the real twists. Sue Watson is an amazing writer paired with Tasmin Kennard one of my absolute fave narrators!

Gripping read

This book was certainly a page turner! The main character was pretty naive, but you still wanted to root for her. Interesting ending, I actually didn’t see the very last part coming! Listened to the whole thingin under a week.

Tamsin Kennard kept me listening

This one started out great, but midway I found the main character to be more annoying than likable. Naive and desperate are never a good combination and the main character in this one was overflowing with both. painful. The only reason I continued was Tamsin Kennards gift for narrating, she could read the old testament and I would be hooked!

Why do characters have to be stupid women?

The story was very predictable, definitely not jaw dropping suspense. The disappointing part was how the main character was created to be daft and unaware. Let’s see some strong female leads who lead with intelligence, not the desperate need to be loved which apparently removes all common sense.

WOW

What a damn twist ending. It was phenomenally put together, totally blindsided in the best way. Loved this book!

Unexpected and Thrilling

I loved the narrator of this book. She kept you enthralled. Great job Tamsin.!
This book was very good. Like other reviews I think the main character Hannah was very naive and stupid and I had to shake my head at all her forgiveness for Alex.
A woman should always listen to her best friend.
Anyhow, all said and done as usual Sue Watson never disappoints her books are thrilling and captivating.
The ending was unbelievable. I did not see that twist coming at all. That was so unexpected and surprising.
Loved it. Looking forward to her next book.

slow moving, but with purpose

*No spoilers*
Building the relationship between Alex and Hannah was painfully slow, but for good reason. At times I felt a little bored with Hannah's repetitive "should I/should I not trust _insert name here_" narrative. The ending was a good one though, and the last handful of chapters were by far the most gripping portion of the story.
Overall, a slightly mundane story for a mature audience, but a great intro book for teens who want to discover mystery, suspense, and murder, sprinkled into an otherwise seemingly romantic relationship.
