Story
As pediatrician and mother of two teenagers Cara Natterson explains, puberty starts in boys long before any visible signs appear, and that causes confusion about their changing temperaments for boys and parents alike. Often, they also grow quieter as they grow taller, which leads to less parent-child communication. But, as Natterson warns in Decoding Boys, we respect their increasing "need" for privacy, monosyllabic conversations, and alone time at their peril.

Story
At last, an audiobook of sage advice that will help frustrated parents reconnect with their teenager and keep that connection even in today's often-crazy world. The first step is simple: Realizing that inside every teen resides two very different people - the regressed child and the emergent adult. The emergent adult is seen at school, on the playing field, in his first job, and in front of his friends' families. Unfortunately, his parents usually see only the regressed child - moody and defiant.

Story
Why America's sons are underachieving, and what we can do about it. Something is happening to boys today. From kindergarten to college, American boys are, on average, less resilient and less ambitious than they were a mere 20 years ago. The gender gap in college attendance and graduation rates has widened dramatically. In Boys Adrift, Dr. Leonard Sax delves into the scientific literature and draws on more than 20 years of clinical experience to explain why boys and young men are failing in school and disengaged at home.

Story
Narcissists are everywhere. It is said that we are in the midst of a narcissist epidemic. Some sources claim that one in four people is a narcissist. This means that your child, parent, neighbor, coworker, friend, or partner could very well be a narcissist. Narcissists are often not harmful when they keep to themselves. Their behavior becomes a problem when they try to interact with other people. They often don't know how to act, and thus they cause others a significant deal of pain.

Worth it
I was worried about my 14 years olds constant complaining about school (he has mostly As) and his saying “How is any of this relevant to my life?” Very frustrating to say the least. I would try to find every answer I could to defend teachers and the system…thanks to this book I know have a whole new perspective on raising my son. It gets really pertinent around chapter 8 for me.

Wish I had listened/ read this book earlier.
I learnt a lot of the techniques mentioned in the book, the hard way - hard for myself and my teen boys. Still a lot of new and reliable info and techniques. The one manual most of us wish we had when the kids were born!! Thanks Adam for sharing your wisdom.

Quite Good
Definitely learned more about appreciating where my son is at in this weird teenage phase. That he may look like an adult but his brain is not an adult brain.
I was looking for more practical "do this" items (there were some) but I may have missed some in listening. I will likely give everything another listen to pick more up. Overall though it's quite good and worth the time.

He is not lazy is phenomenal
Thank you for making such fabulous tool for parents available. It’s amazing how we get stuck in our worlds and don’t even try to understand our own children. What an eye opener! All the problems my son was blamed for, were because of us parents not the child. Thank you for helping us to have fantastic father-son relationship!
