great listen

I will not say that what is in this book is common sense. it should be but most of the common sense out there causes more problems. thus is the first time I listen to a real action plan and plain realistic situations. I will be relistening soon

Good and practical reading

I like it. Book has a lot of models of everyday situations when you can face difficulties with people. Each situation got analysis and patterns of behaviour can be used to avoid or minimize negative results

Nice summary of the communication genre.

This is a nice short read that, for me, summarizes the more broad topic of positive communication.

Contains a lot of UK lingo - being a British book.

There are better resources out there.

Highly recommend searching out other resources. There is a bit of useful info in the middle of the book, but the first third to half was not about the title of the book in my opinion. While I get that you need to look at your self, that was not what was advertised.

I did get a few reminders of things I have read elsewhere, so there is that...

The narration is a bit stiff. If you really want to read this book, I suggest reading it, as it would be easier to skim over 90% of the book to get to the 5% that the title purports to address. Felt like this book could have been 1/5th the size and been the better for it.

Excellent help book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if they were having the same difficulty as I have been having. It has helped boost my confidence, and see things from a different perspective.

What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Deal with Difficult People?

The realization that I also need to change, and that I am too passive possibly causing some of the (passive) aggressive people in my life to treat me the way that they do.

Which character – as performed by Katy Carmichael – was your favorite?

I don't have a favorite, but I can say that it was helpful to hear some of the stories that I can relate to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I often found myself sitting in the car in my garage, after I arrived home from my 40 minute commute, listening to the book until I found a good stopping point.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed listening to the narrator's voice. It was very pleasant, and understandable.

Good Content but difficult audiobook

So far I like the content, but the narrator is just reading slowly and in a not engaging way. So I've been re-listening the narration over and over. If you can pay attention to the sleepy narration way this is for you, if it's not, maybe get the book and read it yourself.

Great book!

Great book! I recently got promoted to a supervisor position. I had extremely difficulty dealing with two employees. Knowing the other two people will continue being difficult, I am able to change my attitude and gain control of situations with help from this book. Surprisingly the two people changed dramatically their attitude towards me as well.

A lot of good stuff--generalities too

Overall, this book was good. It starts with generalities, and ends with them too. But in between there a lot of good examples that help you with practical advice and tactics you can use right away.it was good to read about some of the examples of people that are difficult to deal with, and ways to confront them brother wise work with them to get things done. This is especially true of difficult people on the workplace. I'm not so sure the book to going to any level of detail to truly dealing with an impossible person. Still, a good read.

Worth a listen

This book is really all about open and honest communication. The premise is basically, if you’re struggling to deal with someone, it’s probably because you don’t understand each other fully - unless they totally suck, in which case, burn it all down and run.

Just okay. Seemed like common sense to me.

I didn't gain any real insight. It isn't bad to hear the things you know intuitively given voice, but I was hoping for for more.
