What the critics say

"Scott Brick brings a chilling calm to the complex story with his deep, even tone and clear enunciation.... He does a particularly fine portrayal of John Hammond, the creator of the controversial park, giving the character a raspy edge that suits the dark agenda beneath his grandfatherly facade." You will love it

Like the rest of the planet, I am a huge fan of the movie. I am now a huge fan of the book.

It is so much fun to get back into this world, and to see the similarities and differences from the film. Obviously a film must condense material, so there is a lot of new action, conversations, and depth that was just a joy to explore.

And to top it off, it makes a great audio book. The narration is excellent and it is easy to follow the story in the audio format.

Use your credit for this one, you won’t regret it!

Why have I never read this?

All the best parts of Jurassic Park 1,2 & 3 were all originally written in this book. Great audio, the orator chosen was very well picked.

better than the movie by far

I like this narrator, he puts life into the characters without making Lex more annoying than she needs to be. If you havent read or listened to this book but enjoy the movie, it's a must have.

Amazing

Lex as a character was absolutely annoying but the book itself was truly brilliant and engaging.

Incredible narration and story

First time that I read the book version of the story - it was even better than I was expecting. If you love the movie, give this a shot.

Fantastic

This was a stellar listen. Having grown up watching the original Jurassic Park I was curious to see how the film was adapted from the novel. The novel didn’t disappoint and painted a much more intricate world. The orator was great and engaging.

Way better than the movie

I don't want to be "that guy", but I honestly love the book compared to the movie. The descriptions of the dinosaurs make them a lot creepier, and being able to know what the characters think about and feel is extremely important, especially when they're confronted with the dinosaurs. The book continues longer than the movie, and it feels a lot better in terms of pacing. Of course, the first hour or two is dedicated to teaching the reader about genetic science and all that, which is pretty dry, but necessary if you don't know anything about it.
I also really liked the slow lead up to there being dinosaurs. it makes the reveal a lot better, even though I went in knowing they would be in the book.

I rented the movie before I bought this audiobook, and I found quite a few things I didn't like about it already. In it's time it was fantastic, I remember loving it as a kid (when I probably shouldn't have been watching it) but as a jaded adult, I found that Jeff Goldblum's character was way too annoying. I get that he's supposed to be disliked so the audience has someone to root against though.
It was also just way too Hollywood. I don't really know how to explain it, but the way they change the writer's work to fit the movie format takes a lot of what made the original special and just throws it out, or splits it up in order to make sequels. I understand that fitting an entire book into an hour and thirty minutes is hard, but the dinosaurs- namely the raptors- didn't seem as intelligent as tbey do in the book. They open a door with their claws. And that's it. In the book, they are described as being as intelligent as chimpanzees, having the ability to make and execute plans, and they're all around a lot more scary in the book
