The Red Queen is old but the kings of the Broken Empire dread her like no other. For all her reign, she has fought the long war, contested in secret, against the powers that stand behind nations, for higher stakes than land or gold. Her greatest weapon is The Silent Sister - unseen by most and unspoken of by all. In the ice, east of the Black Rock, there is a hole into which broken children are thrown. Yaz's people call it the Pit of the Missing, and now it is drawing her in as she has always known it would. To resist the cold, to endure the months of night when even the air itself begins to freeze, requires a special breed. Variation is dangerous, difference is fatal. And Yaz is not the same.

WOW
I have attempted to listen to this book a few times because of how much I liked the first but each time I was thrown off by the confusing and jumbled presentation of the story and found myself forgetting to finish it over and over again. I am so glad I did finish it this time though as all the confusion and questions eventually reveal themselves into multiple moments of awe and amazement. The story has an amazing and satisfying end that builds perfectly for the sequel. Love it and highly recommend.
