He set the culture, business model, quality platform, and people development program and then got out of the way. Lululemon’s exponential growth, culture, and brand strength have few peers, and it is because of those employees who choose to be great. This book is also about missed opportunity - five years of missed opportunity. Chip was playing to win while the directors of the company he founded were playing not to lose.

Why is profitable growth so hard to achieve and sustain? Most executives manage their companies as if the solution to that problem lies in the external environment - find an attractive market, formulate the right strategy, win new customers. But when Bain & Company's Chris Zook and James Allen (authors of the best-selling Profit from the Core) researched this question, they found that when companies fail to achieve their growth targets, 90 percent of the time the root causes are internal, not external.

NBA fans had low expectations for rookie coach Nick Nurse and his Toronto Raptors. But what those naysayers didn't realize was that Nurse had spent the past 30 years proving himself at every level of the game, from youth programs and college ball to the NBA D League and Britain's struggling pro circuit. While few coaches have taken such a circuitous path to pro basketball's promised land, the journey - which began at Kuemper Catholic high school in Carroll, Iowa - forged a coach who proved to be as unshakable as he is personable.

Several years ago, Sam Walker set out to answer one of the most hotly debated questions in sports: What are the greatest teams of all time? He devised a formula, then applied it to thousands of teams from leagues all over the world, from the NBA to the English Premier League to Olympic field hockey. When he was done, he had a list of the 16 most dominant teams in history. At that point he became obsessed with another, more complicated question: What did these freak teams have in common?

Award-winning sports journalist Scott Howard-Cooper uncovers the fascinating life story of a basketball legend. Kerr did not follow a traditional path to the NBA. He was born in Beirut to two academics and split his childhood between California and the Middle East. Though he was an impressive shooter, the undersized Kerr garnered almost no attention from major college programs, managing only at the last moment to snag the final scholarship at the University of Arizona.

In Scotty, Dryden has given his coach a new test: Tell us about all these players and teams you've seen, but imagine yourself as their coach. Tell us about their weaknesses, not just their strengths. Tell us how you would coach them and coach against them. And then choose the top eight teams of all time, match them up against one another in a playoff series, and, separating the near-great from the great, tell us who would win. And why.

Description
The All Blacks are the world's most successful sporting outfit, undefeated in over 75% of their international matches over the last 100 years. What is the secret of their success? And what can we - as individuals, companies and teams - learn from them? The All Blacks are the world's most successful sporting outfit, undefeated in over 75% of their international matches over the last 100 years.
In other arenas, there have been commanding sides that swept all before them, like the West Indies cricket team of the 1980s with their fearsome battery of fast bowlers, or the Hungarian football team who introduced a sophisticated new passing game and famously thrashed England 7-1 in Budapest in 1954. But what makes the All-Blacks different is their supremacy for decade after decade - their sheer consistency, longevity and sustained dominance.
So, what is the secret of their success? And what can we - as individuals, companies and teams - learn from them? Whatever field we are in, how can we play like All Blacks? In Legacy, best-selling author James Kerr is embedded deep into the heart of the All Blacks' set-up to reveal 15 powerful and pragmatic lessons in leadership. Revealing proven secrets of sustained success, Legacy is a unique, inspiring handbook for leaders in all fields, and asks: How do you turn vision into action? How do you achieve world-class standards, day after day, week after week, year after year? How do you handle pressure, expectation and setbacks? How do you train to win at the highest level? What is your purpose? What will be your legacy?

How to train yourself
I don’t care about corporate sports. While the book is well written and the reader performance is excellent, the narrative is simple … be willing to give your whole life and being to make someone rich. Create stories to make that palatable. In that regard this book is just like all the other business books.

powerful window into building a culture of success
really enjoyed this step-by-step approach to building a high performing culture. AB were known as the best team in the world that could never win the big game (RWC) final. Powerful examination of shifting this challenge, and how the players bought in.
One aspect of this audiobook that drove me nuts was how the narrator used a 'goofy' voice when he was quoting others.

Great content marred by the terrible attempts at accents in the narration
This is a great book. However, listening to the narrator butchering several accents (his “impression” of Archbishop Tutu was an attempt at GBH on the ears) makes it extremely difficult to listen to. Luckily I have a copy of the book I can read that helps. Note to the narrator. You are not good at accents (and that is the kindest I can be). Narration of world class content does not require you to be. Please remember that next time, the narration is not about you, it’s about the content. Your own accent is perfectly lovely. Please read the whole book in that accent.

Are you willing to sweep the shed?
The tying together of the rich Māori culture, the storied history of the All Blacks to a country that embraces both; all with the expectation to succeed! to win! With the simple principle of being better than you are now. Powerful. Not enough people will embrace it.

Linguistic Butchery - get the kindle book
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This could be a great audio book with a different narrator - preferably a New Zealander or at least someone whose attempts at a kiwi accent do not end up sounding like a cross between a White South African and an Australian and someone who can speak the Maori language quotes without butchering them.
What did you like best about this story?
The story itself - there is a lot to learn from this book about leadership, character, team culture and how they interact.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Saul Reichlin?
A New Zealander
