Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

One boy. One boat. One tiger.
After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, a solitary lifeboat remains bobbing on the wild, blue Pacific. Worth every minute 😀 the details really bring life and depth to each character. I will be listening to this book more than once.

Not for people who aren’t interested in Religion
I was forced to read this for my English class, and it felt like a chore rather than a fun thing to do.

Fiction or Fact?
I believed that this story was true.....at the end, there was a huge question in my mind whether it was fact or fiction. The story itself was very description and many times, very gory and visual.

Dreamy and relaxing.
Whooah! Gripping tale and brilliant narrating. The writing is dreamy and relaxing, and the narrating is absolutely perfect. The ending is unexpected, and hangs over you like a cloud once you finish. Recommended.

Long story short, brilliantly narrated
Overly long, but worth the brilliant narration and ending. Perfect listening for long walks with dogs.

a bit gruesome for me
very detailed descriptions of animal suffering and death, as well as human suffering. Also not a fan of the author's style. I appreciate that he wast trying to get this story into the hands of readers, but he's not for me and neither was this book.

Perfectly grounded fiction.
Yann Martel's Life of Pi is nothing short of a immaculately interwoven series of moments of self discovery in the face of life's most seemingly simple challenge, The Move.
As Narrator; Rajiv Surendra gives a truly heartfelt performance. So much so, that at times, it is hard to imagine that you are listening to fiction & not the recordings of a man who has survived a unbearably & yet beautiful trile by sea.

I see what all the fuss is about!
What a story, I had always heard so many good things about the Life of Pi, and decided to finally listen to it. Surendra is entertaining to listen to, having a somewhat cheeky tone to his voice. The story itself is splendid, with ever detail attended to. This is a unique book, with thought provoking content. I would definitely recommend.
