Histoire
Sam and Clementine have a wonderful, albeit, busy life: they have two little girls, Sam has just started a new dream job, and Clementine, a cellist, is busy preparing for the audition of a lifetime. If there’s anything they can count on, it’s each other. Clementine and Erika are each other’s oldest friends. A single look between them can convey an entire conversation. But theirs is a complicated relationship, so when Erika mentions a last minute invitation to a barbecue with her neighbors, Tiffany and Vid, Clementine and Sam don’t hesitate.

Histoire
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

Description
"My darling Cecilia, if you’re reading this, then I’ve died...."
Imagine that your husband wrote you a letter, to be opened after his death. Imagine, too, that the letter contains his deepest, darkest secret - something with the potential to destroy not just the life you built together, but the lives of others as well. Imagine, then, that you stumble across that letter while your husband is still very much alive....
Cecilia Fitzpatrick has achieved it all - she's an incredibly successful businesswoman, a pillar of her small community, and a devoted wife and mother. Her life is as orderly and spotless as her home. But that letter is about to change everything, and not just for her: Rachel and Tess barely know Cecilia - or each other - but they too are about to feel the earth-shattering repercussions of her husband’s secret.
Acclaimed author Liane Moriarty has written a gripping, thought-provoking novel about how well it is really possible to know our spouses - and, ultimately, ourselves.
Ce que les critiques en disent
“Spellbinding.... A knockout!” (Emily Giffin, New York Times best-selling author)

Enjoyable narration, tiresome and bleak storyline.
This story seems like it was written by someone who does not think any marriage is good. I could not relate to any of the characters and found most dislikable. The story seemed unnecessarily depressing with few redeeming features.

my first exposure to this authour
I enjoyed this story. I have since listened to a few other stories by Liane Moriarty. Her writing keeps my mind engaged, and paying attention. The pace of the story was pretty good.. The Narrator was easy to listen to. #Audible1

What a tangled web we weave!
Slow to start with an introduction to many characters. But it weaves through the lives so beautifully and the ending is worth it!

Worth it to finish
Very slow start, took two attempts to get past the first 4 chapters, had to restart. Very slow first half of the book, I honestly wasn’t captivated til half way through then it got really good and I flew through it. Definitely worth sticking it through to the end of you’re on the fence.

Good book but very fat phobic
The story itself is great, however the book is extraordinary fat phobic to the point it was uncomfortable at times- it was distracting, and while a small part of it was sort-of central to one of the plot points could have been handled so much better. Worth the listen, just something to be aware of!

Great story!!
Liane Moriarty is such a good story-teller!! She expertly brings together several character threads, keeping the reader informed just enough… but still wondering and anxious to see how the whole story will be expertly and satisfyingly woven together at the end.
This is the kind of story you find yourself thinking about off and on throughout the day - and wondering what you would do in the same situation.

Very interesting story, not boring or overly obvious. Some surprises and nuggets of humour, the characters are interesting.
