Description

Protagonist really irritating
I like the premise and the story but the protagonist is so irritating. She constantly wines, she’s super negative and just not likeable. I keep trying to like her because otherwise I won’t know what happens but there’s 3 hours left and I just really can’t stand her anymore. I applaud the author for writing a book which is very difficult and also for the consistency but for goodness sake, please create a protagonist that one can actually stand.

Ok
I didnt make it past a third. I didnt like the narrators or the writing. The story was silly (which can be good) but all the jokes fell flat.

Not too bad...
However, the main character, Betsy, makes me want to scream. She's a prudish, irritating, narcissistic bitch. I am going to try the second book to see if it gets better, if not I won't continue the series.
The narrator is ok, I guess - her timing needs work.

it was fine
if you like cheap paperbacks about vampires (and I do!) it's a fun, light novel but nothing exceptionally special. I do like the main character Betsy, but most of the supporting characters are a bit blah. if you get this book on sale I'd say go for it, but I wouldn't recommend using a monthly credit on it, there are better books.

I loved this book 15 years ago, and still love it today!
I wasn’t sure I would love this book 15 years later, but I do.

Wish a different narrator had been chosen
Loved the book. I’ve seen a couple of negative comments about the main character but I enjoy witty, sarcastic characters. However the narrator drove me crazy. Overly long pauses plagued the narrative. A narrator like Hollie Jackson would have been perfect for this book. She has done well with similar characters.

Good surprise!
At first i wasn't sure but little by little the story and the story teller got me. The recording quality is not the best, some part should have been redo but overall she is hilarious and i let myself go with it.

I used to love this book...
... but it really hasn't aged well. From (the white MC) defending Gone with the Wind (to the Black supporting character) because "the black characters were all so nice and were treated so well by their bosses" to thinly veiled problematic views of and scenarios involving LGBTQIA+ characters.... Well, I spent a lot of time cringing as I listened. It's very much an early 2000s vibe, when we were straddling the line of being "PC" and not angering "the majority" with "progressive" views. I made it through for the sake of nostalgia, and I'll probably take a chance and listen to the next one for the same reason, but it'll be worthwhile to look up content/trigger warnings if you're going to dive in to the series. Take it for what it is - a not-so-serious, kitchy, campy, vamp love story very representative of its time - and you'll probably have fun.

not worth the time
narrator is boring story is repetitive and the characters are awful. main character is whining and obnoxious. I really tried but I didn't enjoy and couldn't finish
