Great author and fantastic book
Brad Thor is my favourite author, his detail for operations is perfect both for lay persons and military, can’t wait for his next work

Main Character is just a Insufferable Asshole
I really wanted to like him in his first outing, but he is an egotistical, narcissistic, moronic asshole. He behaves like a shitty B-movie action hero in a 18 on rotten tomatoes film, yet the author tries repeatedly to ground the story in reality. The fact of the matter is that the main character is unlikeable, irrational, and dick, who genuinely creates 99% of the problems he faces in the book with his own behaviour. That juxtaposed with the more grounded characters surrounding him that are portrayed more like actual human being and professionals makes him seem horribly put of place. I really want to like him, but I don't.
As for the overall plot, it starts off relatively believable but there are far too many points where you are asked to suspend your disbelief for s book that tries to ground itself in reality. It feels like a tug of war between corny crappy characters and plot points, and the more serious and grounded characters and plot. Thankfully this issue isn’t nearly as prevalent as the series progresses.
So yeah, you kinda have to read this to understand the characters in later books, but keep your expectations pretty low.

Just as you would hope ... Excellent!
Typical Rapp, Gentry, and Reece with a tad of Reacher. For those who love this genre, it's exactly what you need to waste away a little of your day and enjoy some imaginary time with specialists that do it all with little remorse, much professionalism and a heaping spoonful of luck! I loved it and cannot wait to binge the series.

Super cheesy writing
Tired dialogue that one could find in any dime store detective book - I mean, who actually says ‘yuk yuk yuk’ when mimicking someone laughing? 🤦♀️. It’s too bad as the premise was interesting. If the book weren’t so cheesy it could have promise. I felt like it was catering to the intellect of 12 year old boys

B-rate action story.

Piece o' Crap
Couldn't even finish. They dialogs is so bad, it's comical. Too much focus/detail on items not critical to the plot.
