Description
A week's holiday in a luxurious hotel is just what Scotland Yard's Superintendent Duncan Kincaid needs. But his vacation ends dramatically with the discovery of a dead body in the whirlpool bath. Characters so full of potential!
A good story, and an excellent narration. The characters (and not just the leads) were easily brought to life. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series!

AShare in Death by Deborah Crombie
This one of the older books in the collection Kincaid the main protagonist in the stories and Gemma James working together to solve the mysteries. They make a great team. Really love this and all of the series I have read. This reader Michael Deehy great reader keeps the people and places moving along and pretty soon you find yourself immersed in the story like there is a cast of dozens.

An enjoyable story and naration
A true sign of a really good story is; do I immediately go looking for the next in the series. in this case, I didn't.
Often a good narration makes up for an ok story, I think that was the case this time around. But I enjoyed the experience and didn't conclude the story was lacking till given the conclusion.

Crombie delivers
Always a pleasure to meet up with Kincaid and this story is no exception. An interesting view of his humanity, self doubt and yet we always have confidence in his ultimate success. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride!

In Genuine Danger Of Being Dated..
..but really isn't. This well-contrived and decently-executed British Police Procedural/Mystery was published a year before my adult daughter was born. The Forensics are virtually non-existent and avenues of investigation like communications and developing a social media footprint are conspicuously absent. That said, 'A Share In Death' is a strikingly "typical" example of what the genre offered a quarter-century ago. The investigation concentrates on interviews, deductive reasoning, and good 'ol fashioned gumshoeing - but is far more modern-sounding than one might expect. I was able to lose myself in this Deborah Crombie offering about a series of murders observed by a vacationing Scotland Yard Inspector who calls in support from a young colleague back in London. The pacing isn't great and the story is admittedly a bit too PG-13 for my tastes (noticeably free of fright/gore/expletives.. your young teenagers could listen to this one), but I enjoyed this whodunit effort.
The narration from Michael Deehy is likewise entertaining. His diction, timbre, and tone are spot-on. He reads a little too slowly (I recommend setting playback speed at 1.15X) and his cadence is oddly lilting at times, but above-average voice-acting more than makes up for any deficiencies in the performance. I would listen to more from Deehy anyday.
I am grateful to Audible for offering this book for free with my subscription. The 8.5/10 audiobook actually rates a Credit for casual fans of quality (if a little sophomoric) late 20th century mysteries.
[The 'Kincaid and James' team dynamic is interesting enough to prompt me to download the next book in the series. I'm personally curious as to where Crombie can take this detective-duo.]

Good listen
I found just a bit repetitive in places but very good, I was surprised I had no idea who the villain was which is very unusual for me. Very good mystery

Beautifully read
Good yarn although quite predictable. A nice alternative to American guns and car chases. An easy, entertaining listen.
