Shallow Yet Still Captivating
Much of this book was no more than a list of famous designers, wonderful food, flashy transportation, and unreal sums of money. Themes of classism, education, sons vs daughters, were there but the story, while extremely straightforward had no unusual twists. The author could not even come up with a unique solution to generation old problems. All that being said I did not want to stop reading. It seemed to catch you in a fantasy world.

Worth a read but don't care to finish the trilogy
I read this in anticipation of the film and it felt like a light beach read but I found the author spent a lot of time on listing or describing luxury brands/items and spent less time on developing the myriad of characters. I mainly cared for like 5 characters at most and waited for their narrative to come back in focus whenever the book would go on a tangent.
Great for the beach or light summer reading.

A great listen
I had heard a lot about this book before i purchased it.
CRA ended up being way more fun and engrossing then i had anticipated.
Everyone should get this book and the whole series.

Great listen

Good story, Great characters.
What a delight. I thought I'd get lost in all the names and culture but found it to be easy and fun to get caught up in the character and atmosphere of the book. I could have listened to this book if it was twice as long. Recommend.

Good story but a bit slow with all the dialogue
I felt the story was good, with good themes and descriptions but a bit slow overall as 75% of the story was told through characters dialogue, and a lot of the conversations seemed to be fluff or pointless information. I did like the story though and the narrator, and will most likely give his other books a try!

Will see the movie. Won't pick up the 2nd book.
I think this will be better as a movie because I found that the endless name-dropping and the overly described luxury items (and there was a lot of them) took away from the actual story. I found that it lagged for me at certain points. it makes me think that all the name dropping and itemizing luxury brand items is a way to distract you from the fact that this story could be told in half the time(or pages).
I liked the narrator. Her performance was great. Her voice was pleasant and made it a good choice for this beach read.
Overall, the story is supposed to be light and fun. What weighs it down for me is the previously mention name dropping & itemizing of luxury items. It turned me off but I think that stuff could work better in a summer movie because they can show a lot of things in a single 30 second shot that would take a book a couple of pages to describe.
I never thought I'd ever say this but I think this is the first time I'm looking forward to a movie making changes to a book's story.
