As part of a ruthless program by the totalitarian government, ninth-grade students are taken to a small isolated island with a map, food, and various weapons. Forced to wear special collars that explode when they break a rule, they must fight each other for three days until only one "winner" remains. The elimination contest becomes the ultimate in must-see reality television. A Japanese pulp classic available in English-language audio for the first time, Battle Royale is a potent allegory of what it means to be young and survive in today's dog-eat-dog world.

A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

Trigger Warning includes previously published pieces of short fiction--stories, verse, and a very special Doctor Who story that was written for the fiftieth anniversary of the beloved series in 2013--as well as "Black Dog", a new tale that revisits the world of American Gods, exclusive to this collection.

Histoire
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Histoire
When we first meet 14-year-old Susie Salmon, she is already in heaven. In the sweet, untroubled voice of a precocious teenage girl, Susie relates the awful events of her death and her own adjustment to the strange new place where she finds herself. With love, longing, and a growing understanding, Susie watches her family as they cope with their grief. This story of seemingly unbearable tragedy is transformed into a suspenseful and touching narrative about family, memory, love, heaven, and living.

Good Story with very Monotonous Narration

Description
Only it's different...
At first, things seem marvelous in the other flat. The food is better. The toy box is filled with wind-up angels that flutter around the bedroom. But there's another mother, and another father, and they want Coraline to stay with them and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.
Other children are trapped there as well, lost souls behind the mirrors. Coraline is their only hope of rescue. She will have to fight with all her wits if she is to save the lost children, her ordinary life, and herself.

An experience I'll probably never forget.
I definitely was not expecting of how much I would enjoy this experience I just lived. I already got the opportunity to read and experience Coraline's journey to save her parents and herself in two adaptations, the movie and the comic book (which is more faithful to the original text), and I guess I still can't get bored of reading, or in that case, listening to this wonderful, dark and fantatic story that Neil Gaiman put out to the word.
I am a immigrant new to Canada coming from Brazil, and even tho I consider my english to be at least pretty decent, I still struggle sometimes to understand what some folks say to me, so I knew I needed to train my listening skills. And because I recently watched Neil Gaiman's MasterClass, I was craving to experience more of his stories, so it was just perfect when I found this app and realized how many of Neil's works are in here! With it, I was able to realize both my wishes!
I picked Coraline to be the first book to listen because I was a little afraid to ruin the experience of a story that I never read with my not so great english listening skill, but now that I finished, I just realized how much I was able to understand! Sure, I still don't understand 100%, so I do need more practice, but still it was such a amazing and relaxing time I had while I listened to this! I was so lucky for the 3 days that I casually listened to the story to be just slightly rainy and foggy, which fits so perfectly with the feel of the book in a way that I was able to just keep myself completely immersed in the story no matter where I was and what I was doing!
And what I can tell about Neil's perfect, warm and magical narration of his own work? It still feels like a dream to have the author himself to read you his book, almost like if he was telling a bed story for you before you feel sleep in a deep dream. I know it sounds weird and exaggerated (after all it's just a 4h long audio I just downloaded) but this is the best I can describe the feelling of listening to this audiobook!
And when I finished it, I just couldn't help myself but to keep a big smile on my face for a long time, just like Coraline while listening to the sounds and music of the mice circus on the end of the summer...
Now this becomes a great memory that I will keep close to my heart forever and that I'll probably never forget.

Always loved the Coraline story
I've always been a huge fan of the Coraline story and have seen the movie multiple times. I thought it was time I read the original book. I especially enjoyed the fact it was narrated by the original author.

Unique story, could do without the music.
For some reason I wasn't aware that Neil Gaiman was British, so it was a bit jarring to hear the book read in a British voice. I did like it though; the movie was quite close to the book, yet the book gave me more of that stock-still, creepy factor from the Beldam that I imagined her to have. I personally felt like the music was extremely out of place (and not that good) so I could've done without it, but overall this audiobook was enjoyable and fairly well done.

Everything Gaiman pens is magick. Coraline is no exception. A children's book - yes. I'm in my late 50s and listened to it twice. Gaiman's narration is outstanding.
