Histoire
When Chen’s parents are incinerated before his eyes by a blast of ball lightning, he devotes his life to cracking the secret of the mysterious natural phenomenon. His search takes him to stormy mountaintops, an experimental military weapons lab, and an old Soviet science station. The more he learns, the more he comes to realize that ball lightning is just the tip of a new frontier in particle physics. Although Chen’s quest provides a purpose for his life, his reasons for chasing his elusive quarry come into conflict with soldiers and scientists who have motives of their own.

These 11 stories, including five Chinese Galaxy Award winners, are a blazingly original ode to planet Earth, its pasts, and its futures. Liu's fiction takes the listener to the edge of the universe and the end of time, to meet stranger fates than we could have ever imagined. With a melancholic and keen understanding of human nature, Liu's stories show humanity's attempts to reason, navigate, and above all, survive in a desolate cosmos.

Twenty years ago, it was as if someone turned on a light. The future blazed into existence with each deliberate word that William Gibson laid down. The winner of Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, Neuromancer didn't just explode onto the science fiction scene - it permeated into the collective consciousness, culture, science, and technology.Today, there is only one science fiction masterpiece to thank for the term "cyberpunk," for easing the way into the information age and Internet society.

Description
Soon to be a Netflix original series!
“The War of the Worlds for the 21st century...packed with a sense of wonder.” (Wall Street Journal)
The New York Times best-selling conclusion to a tour de force near-future adventure trilogy from China's best-selling and beloved science fiction writer.
With The Three-Body Problem, English-speaking listeners got their first chance to hear China's most beloved science fiction author, Cixin Liu. The Three-Body Problem was released to great acclaim including coverage in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal and reading list picks by Barack Obama and Mark Zuckerberg. It was also won the Hugo and Nebula Awards, making it the first translated novel to win a major SF award.
Now this epic trilogy concludes with Death's End.
Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to co-exist peacefully as equals without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent.
Cheng Xin, an aerospace engineer from the early 21st century, awakens from hibernation in this new age. She brings with her knowledge of a long-forgotten program dating from the beginning of the Trisolar Crisis, and her very presence may upset the delicate balance between two worlds. Will humanity reach for the stars or die in its cradle?

Unsatisfactory
So many loose ends...just, so frustrating, so much wasted time. Would've avoided starting the series if I'd known.

such a great story
Cixin Liu is a master story teller. I can compare him with Arthur C Clark. This Three-body problem series is much more than a Sci-Fi story. it brings awe and wonder to the reader and a sense of understanding how grand and mysterious the universe is.

The writer lost the plot
The writer lost the plot in this one and revealed that his political goal for writing this series is to instil a hate for femininity. In conclusion, the writer is saying in this series that all blunders of humanity should be attributed to women, and only old-fashioned men can save humankind.

Way way far out there
Cixin Liu must has challenged his imagination to create the most outrageous story plot ever. At every plot turn the action gets more outlandish and yet the commitment to identifying the physics behind things stays true. I was sad that some of my favourite characters did not come back despite being in hibernation and the characterization could have been more compelling but it was a terrific ending to a way out there series. I will miss these characters now that they have been resolved.

Skip the books and just watch the series
Incredible arc but annoying trod. The contempt for women and femininity is hard to stomach. So many coincidences in the story. Yet, genuinely mind opening. It’s better than book two, but not nearly as good as the first. Such a relief to finish.
