Publisher's Summary

In this number-one national best seller, "master storyteller" (Houston Chronicle) Stephen King, writing as Richard Bachman, tells the tale of the contestants of a grueling walking competition where there can beonly one winner - the one who survives.

In the near future, when America has become a police state, 100 boys are selected to enter an annual contest where the winner will be awarded whatever he wants for the rest of his life. Among them is 16-year-old Ray Garraty, and he knows the rules - keep a steady walking pace of four miles per hour without stopping. Three warnings and you're out - permanently.

With an introduction by Stephen King on "The Importance of Being Bachman".

Good story, terrible audiobook

This audiobook is like listening to my GPS reading a novel. Wooden, there are frequent skips and/or errors with the audio. Not a pleasant experience.

good story but recording has issues

loved the story, however the recording is not smooth there are many drops where words are spoken and cut off like a bad editing job. I don't believe you lose anything but it takes you from the story.

A Long Walk a Long Read

This is another great King read - listen. When I say a long read I mean that you can't wait to get to the end to find out what happens. It does tend to drag in some spots but as you get immersed it's kind of like walking with your eyes closed. I would recommend this

Average story but a little long

The Long Walk, at least topically was sort of meh. If you really think about the themes and allegory then it does bring up the whole novel. One thing that I think would have benefited this story would be if it was more concise, about half the length would have better on my opinion. That is an opinion that normally would be opposite for most of Stephen King's works. Lastly there is an issue with the sound editing, multiple times a word would be cut off during the recording which I have to assume is due to poor splicing of the recorded segments. Narrator was good though.

Do not buy even if it’s free!

Worst narrator I’ve ever listened to. Book also kept skipping at some parts throughout, I only listened to quarter of the way before I had enough of this narrator’s voice! Can’t believe I waisted a credit on this, don’t even buy if it’s free! I wish I could give zero starts!!

Great Story!

This is one of my favourite Stephen King short stories. I really wish he would do a sequel to this.

Unappreciated King

Very enjoyable, definitely recommend. How
horrific could a boys long walk be? It's quite simple👍

Great story, but…

Love the story and the narration, but the recording keeps skipping ahead every so often. Once was no big deal, twice was annoying, by the 1/3 mark is has skipped at least a half dozen times. Not what I parted with my money for.
