Description

Losing your ability to speak at the age of 17; it's not normal or fair. But trauma has a way of throwing normality out the window. Dani lives anything but a normal life: her sister is married to one of the biggest names in Hollywood, her best friends are rock stars, and she has more love around her than most people experience in a lifetime. But that doesn't change the fact their parents are dead, or that it's her fault. It seems her new normal is being a mute, living on the inside, unable to actually communicate on the outside. That is until Hollywood's newest heartthrob Lincoln Greene hires her as his assistant for the summer. He's gorgeous, completely unavailable, and unobtainable. But that doesn't stop her from wondering, if things were different, would he want her? If she was whole, would he be the other half?

Couldn’t finish

I tried to listen to this book 3 different times, but just found myself tuning out. Guess I couldn’t connect with the characters. I finally ended up returning it.

Not bad but...

I've listened to a couple of this author's books and I have to dock points for the simple fact she re-writes the same main female character over and over, even when they exist in the same town and are friends with the ones from previous books. Which makes her books gradually less entertaining and more frustrating as the characters react the same way to similar situations.

As for this book specifically, it's entertaining, didn't inspire a lot of emotion in me but it was fun to listen to, the drama between the two leads was there but it was diffused in a relatively realistic manner and pace, which is rare and I enjoyed a lot. Listening to characters fight for 80% of a book over a simple misunderstanding that would be resolved in minutes in reality is maddening.

Great story

I enjoyed the story around these two. Definitely need to read the seaside series. It refers to those characters so much. This is a good young adult book because the steamy parts are non existent but it didnt take away from the love story of a girl that survived a traumatic loss and a Hollywood heart throb.

Enjoyed

Dani we met in Fall, but this is her story of her struggles after the accident where she lost her parents. Lincoln is a Hollywood actor who is in Seaside to be in Jamison’s story of AD2 and Nat. I enjoyed the story and seeing more of the gang from the Seaside novels, In addition, we meet Zane, who I am looking forward to his story next.

Sweet

It amazes me 1) How versatile a writer Rachel Van Dyken and 2) How far her writing has developed. Capture is a contemporary romance that was published in 2015 (written in 2014?). Her writing has exploded not only in the many genres she writes but in quality and depth.

Capture is a spin off from the Seaside series. Characters from the other series do make appearances but they are tied in with brief explanation. Dani & Lincoln are so lovable! Their friendship blossoms into so much more. They face many obstacles along the way. I was surprised at one thing but I don't want to spoil it.

Narrators Brittany Pressley and Peter Coleman do a great job as well!

loved it! The humor is so relatable.

Of all the authors I've read, I have yet to find one with the creative humor Rachel Van Dyken captures in her characters.

Good Story but some might get hung up on age

The H is 22 and the h is 17 (a month from 18) when the instant attraction begins. A lot of focus is put on age and in this case, it was overblown. If she was 15 or just turned 16, that would be different. If having a main character being 17.9 years old bothers you, please avoid all Disney Princess Movies!

First time reading Rachel Van Dyken- and was impressed!!! Interesting story and even the secondary characters were developed nicely. Was sexy but had a storyline...will continue to read her books. New fan!

Welcome to Seaside.

After a traumatic trigger Dani finds herself Mute. Lincoln is a Hollywood star in need of an assistant. Dani thinks Lincoln is attractive but doesn’t let it shows. They have a kindred spirit type thing going on. The story is short. Loved the supporting characters.

Repeat chapter error?

Would give more stars in performance but chapter 30 is repeated at 7 min and about 30 sec in.

My 1st RVD book

I loved it. Can't wait to read Zanes story and the rest of RVD's books. I do think the Brittany could have narrated this one on her own. She had a better Lincoln Voice. I liked Peter's voice, just not for that character.
