I tried

The narrator, who I assume is German, did a very good job and his accent provided a sense of authenticity to the rambling of this madman named Hitler. I wanted to understand the man and I figured the best way to do so was to read his thought processes in Mein Kampf. At first, I was intrigued but then it became repetitive; the Jews are terrible people, everyone sucks but the Master Race, here a list of things to do to perfect the Race, Marx/Communism bad, politicians are spineless cowards, military good, and might makes right. I have 5 hours left and I'm trying to finish it but its more of a bother than anything else.

Update: I finished the book. It took a while, but it is done. I found that the first and last two-three hours of the book were informative and it provided insight to why Hitler felt the way he did. The driving force of his thought process was pride, not hatred. Don't get me wrong, he hated the Jews, but it was his pride that got the best of him, and he was evoking other Germans to be proud of who they are, what they've accomplished, and not to be deceived or belittled by the Jews, other nations (he also hated the French), or traitors within ranks. This was a historic read for me because I'm not the type of people Hitler favored, but at least I know why this infamous figure did what he did.

Madness and patriotism tightly package together.

the narrator of this work expertly draws you into the mind of Hitler. there are times where you forget this is a red work and not a performance of The Madman.

Satisfying read

I'm so busy it's difficult for me to pick up a book. I've always wanted to read Mein Kampf but just never had the time. I enjoyed listening to this very well thought out and educating book. it's hard for some people to get past it being written by Hitler, but he was a leader for a reason. he made some very thoughtful points but maybe went about the wrong way executing them. I hope other people enjoy it as much as I did, for the right reasons. Politics can be touchy, but we have to embrace the past so it's not repeated.

Interesting

Very well narrated - provided insight into Hitler's thinking, understanding of the power of propaganda & twisting of facts to create his world. He paints himself as almost pressed into being the savior of Germany. Typical it is his wholly inaccurate portrayal of his early years - portraying himself as something he was not - a hardworking student - rather than the lazy, bum. His intelligence is clear. Perhaps thats what is most dangerous about evil men - when they are intelligent, have a clear plan & end objective and have the ability to engage a crowd. Hitler was a fairly skilled an effective leader - he accomplished a lot: the miilions killed, the genocide of those he deemed unfit - the outright brutal mass killings of millions: the attempt to wipe out a people, directly & indirectly causing the deaths of thousands more in a World War - creating a multifacited criminal empire - from a country about the size & population of the State of Oregon at the time - he was able to take on & damage the world. Pretty impressive - wholly destructive & terrifying that it could be done.

I recommend before listening to this - listen to the 3 volume books by Richard Evans: The Rise of the Third Reich, The Third Reich in Power, & The Third Reich at War. Even The Coming of The Third Reich - they are very long, but exceptionally comprehensive.

Know thine enemy.

Scary

I'm glad I listened instead of read it, I probably never would have gotten through the book. Listening made it tolerable to listen to such an incredibly evil mind. I do wish the reader had a German accent though, as if Hitler was reading it himself.

Hitler was a hypocrite

at first I was very interested in this book, but as I kept listening I realized that Adolf Hitler was a total hypocrite. He accused the Jews of doing exactly what he did. He accused the Jews of seeking global domination and the extermination of all non-jews, when that's exactly what he sought to do.
