Years have passed since the end of the War of the Lance. The people of Ansalon have rebuilt their lives, their houses, their families. The Companions of the Lance, too, have returned to their homes, raising children and putting the days of their heroic deeds behind them. But peace on Krynn comes at a price. The forces of darkness are ever vigilant, searching for ways to erode the balance of power and take control. Description
Lifelong friends, they went their separate ways. Now they are together again, though each holds secrets from the others in his heart. They speak of a world shadowed with rumors of war. They speak of tales of strange monsters, creatures of myth, creatures of legend. They do not speak of their secrets. Not then. Not until a chance encounter with a beautiful, sorrowful woman, who bears a magical crystal staff, draws the companions deeper into the shadows, forever changing their lives and shaping the fate of the world.
No one expected them to be heroes.
Least of all, them.

If you need a break from Faerûn, this is for you!
While their are many world's to explore from D&D, this would is definitely an interesting one with plenty of book. The dragon lance sieries feels like a more realistic group of Adventurers as not everyone gets along but still is willing to work together for a common goal and loyalty. If you like D&D, I'm very certain you'll like this book.

Still good
I haven’t read this book in a long time. Still an amazing work of fiction. With great use of characters of different origins working together. Something our society today could learn from
My only complaint is the Narrator. He did amazing work and he didn’t drone on. No the problem is with around 9 main characters it really should have been done as a cast.
A great read for any age and a great introduction into the dragonlance series

Timeless classic!
This was the first fantasy book I ever read at about age 10. it was what got me into fantasy novels and now decades later and after thousands of fantasy novels read, I decided to try the audiobook version. I was instantly transported back to my childhood. Others have complained of the narration, but I did not have a problem with it. there were some wonky pronunciations, but he was overall pretty good I thought.

I really liked this audio book. I thought that the narrator did a fantastic job. I don't understand why people say differently. This book was just as good now as when I was a teen and read this for the first time. I bought the second book right after finishing this. Great job Audible.

terrible narration
story good but the narration reminds me of what i sounds like when i read out loud. not natural sounding, frequently breaks the flow of a line with pauses that shouldn't be there...
i also wonder if it's the narration or the editing afterwards...
