Publisher's Summary

The Guardian: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!

Julie Barenson's young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died - a Great Dane puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now four years have passed. Still living in the small town of Swansboro, North Carolina, 29-year-old Julie is emotionally ready to make a commitment to someone again. But who? Should it be Richard Franklin, the handsome, sophisticated engineer who treats her like a queen? Or Mike Harris, the down-to-Earth nice guy who was her husband's best friend? Choosing one of them should bring her more happiness than she's had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire.

Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration so that listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Wow!

I love movies that are based on Nicholas Sparks books so I decided to try one one of his books. I had a free audio book trial and decided on The Guardian, by Nicholas Sparks, WOW. I truly enjoyed this book, it had me hooked from the beginning. It let's you slowly get to know the characters, but not too slow that you lose interest. I would like to see The Guardian made into a movie. It is very soothing and relaxing listening to someone read and I plan on buying more audio books when I'm done this review.

Did not enjoy background music

I did not enjoy the background music. It was very disturbing. I am reluctant to download another of his books because of it. The story was very good despite the music.

Enjoyable book!

I’ve listened to six Nicholas Sparks’ books and this one is different. Even though it’s a romance novel this one has a sinister touch to it. I found it very interesting and moving, in some parts. The book track audio was really annoying in some places. Way too loud and irritating and I just wish they wouldn’t add music to it. The narrator was pretty good.

The story is good, the audio version not so much..

Isabel did a good job at readying the book, and the story is good but the constant background music was quite annoying and distracting. That was too much and unnecessary.

petty good

I so far have enjoyed 4 different Nicolas Sparks novels. The story was well written, and enjoyable to listen to in the evenings to help me wind down before bed. Any dog lover will enjoy this book, and it had me crying a couple times when I was overcome by the love portrayed by the main character for her dog and vice versa.
I did find the narrator's voice portrayal of some of the characters distracting at times, but not enough to stop listening. overall I really enjoyed this book.
