Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy - after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera - it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon figurehead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans.

Description
Zeus has punished his son Apollo - god of the sun, music, archery, poetry, and more - by casting him down to earth in the form of a gawky, acne-covered 16-year-old mortal named Lester. The only way Apollo can reclaim his rightful place on Mount Olympus is by restoring several Oracles that have gone dark. What is affecting the Oracles, and how can Apollo/Lester do anything about them without his powers?
After experiencing a series of dangerous - and, frankly, humiliating - trials at Camp Half-Blood, Lester must now leave the relative safety of the demigod training ground and embark on a hair-raising journey across North America. Fortunately, what he lacks in godly graces he's gaining in new friendships - with heroes who will be very familiar to fans of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus series. Come along for what promises to be a harrowing, hilarious, and haiku-filled ride....

Apollo is so funny!! (slight spoilers first book)
This is a great sequel, and I can't wait to read the third!
Apollo constantly cracks me up, because he goes from humble one minute to entitled and then confused the next (cuz like fluffy squishy killable God turned human). Such a wonderful job Rick did on portraying his struggle with his enforced humanity.
As with the first, the reader is great. I've never had a problem with Rick's books on audible. #Audible1

good story but.....
I didn't like how Apollo reverts from all he gained in first book, I felt like he lost all he gained personally. he was finally becoming less self centered and thinking about others more. in this one he totally reverts or may be even worse. maybe I noticed it because I listened to them back to back.

Rick Riordan, SUPER ALLY!
I've been in love with the world Rick Riordan created, starting with Percy Jackson and the Olympians, for many years, and it just keeps getting better and more rich. Riordan has found a way and a world to teach us about mythology that also teaches us about ourselves, which was always the purpose of mythology anyway, right?
Both the Trials of Apollo series and Magnus Chase have also introduced characters who are LGBT in such an authentic way, and these characters are true heroes that kids can look up to, flaws and all. I wish these kinds of characters had existed in books when I was a young gay kid, escaping to Narnia, Middle Earth, and Hogwarts. THANK YOU RICK RIORDAN! For me, you win ALLY OF THE YEAR :)

Good if your a fan
If you are a fan of Rick Riordan then im sure you will enjoy this book but as a fan myself and as someone who reads all his books I can say that this 400 page book takes forever to get to interesting parts and only has like 2 "epic battles" and many refernces to the outer world that seem just inserted in and unnecessary. Its not a bad book but its not the most interesting for how long it is.

I've been left hanging before but this is...wow
Any additional comments?
This volume was highly anticipated, but it went a little left field for me. They started going off in random directions and none of it really made sense, on top of the ending coming abruptly and leaving the entire story hanging even worse than Riordan's usual tendency, I wasn't very thrilled with this volume.

Not terrible, just predictable
The story doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s kind of disjointed, and while you can still follow it, there are some plot holes that make it hard to really like.
Besides this, the major plot of the story is still obvious. The twists are cliche, and if you can’t tell what the characters are going to do in advance, then their decisions come completely out of left field, and don’t make any sense.
Long story short, you’ve seen this story from Riordan a million times before.

Wasn't my favorite but still enjoyed it
I LOVE all of Rick's stories and what he does with ancient mythology! As a teacher, they're very informative, they get kids excited and curious, and they teach them to be open minded. This one was good, just not one of my favorites. A little slow and less action then I remember. But still worth a read IF you're into his books, especially the Greek series.
