Great story, poor narration

loved the story. Only thing I didn't like was the Male narrator's female voices. They were awful. Overall good book thought.

Get Off on the Pain

Good story; however, the audio version was difficult for me to get through because of the narration. Narrators can make or break a book for me, and personally, I feel this one would have been better if Alexander read all the male parts and Abby read all the female parts. Thanks to whispersync, I will read this as well, and I have started book two of this series (Something for the Pain). Very happy with the choice of narrators - thanks Victoria!!

I do recommend this series and this author.

Perfect

I must first say that I love every book this author has written so no surprise that I loved the story but the narrators for this book really blew it out of the water for me. They were perfect for these characters. Their voices matched what I could envision as Memphis and Lyric sounding like. The story was told in a way that just sounded like they were talking to you, not reading it. Perfect for me in every way. I loved it and highly recommend it.

Very good story line. Parts of the female narration was awful but I pushed through the audible version because the storyline.

I loved how vulnerable Memphis became when he met his match with Lyric.

What other book might you compare Get Off on the Pain to and why?

Book 2 in the series Something For The Pain. I loved getting to know both brothers and seeing how they dealt with their troubles. They are very different yet a lot alike.

What does Alexander Cendese and Abby Craden bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They bring you right into the book and made you feel part of the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! I couldn't get enough!

Memphis & Lyric

This is the story of Memphis and Lyric. Memphis is returning home from spending 6 years in prison and just wants to find is younger brother and get out of town and start a new life for them. Unfortunately, his brother is in trouble and it forces Memphis to get wrapped up in things from his past that he tries to avoid. It also leaves the door open for him to fall for his next door neighbor no matter how hard he tries to fight it. Lyric has her own issues that come to light toward the end of the book.

This was a nice, quick listen with little drama although I didn't feel as much passion and chemistry between the 2 main characters as I would have liked to or have felt in Victoria Ashley's other books.

As far as narration; I don't mind Alexander Candese. His female voice needs work as it is almost comical how high pitched he does it, but I like his male voice. I could do without Abby Craden. I do not like her narration at all so she ruined it for me and maybe that is why I didn't feel the heat and chemistry between the characters. If you don't have a good narrator delivering the story and people then it takes away from the characters and your overall perception. I would have preferred Alexander doing the entire book, high pitch female voice an all.

Trying Times!

This story was fast paced and exciting. Alexander Cendese and Abby Craden did a good job narrating it.

What the... narration??

Male voice trying to do a female voice.... I can’t believe they even allowed that to be published. It’s so bad, doesn’t even sound real. Beyond ridiculous sounding.
I felt the story had missing pieces, the characters didn’t do it for me and too unbelievable.
