Description

Galaxy's Edge, Part II contains Kill Team through to the end of Attack of Shadows

Legion Dark Ops calls upon Chhun, Wraith, and the survivors of Victory Company to form an elite Kill Team of legionnaires in the aftermath of the Battle of Kublar. Their mission is clear: find and eliminate those responsible for the Kublar disaster.

Standing between them and their objective are a maze of corrupt Republic officials, a spy on the verge of losing himself in deep cover, and the Zhee - a murderous species that will stop at nothing. But the biggest threat of all might be the truth they seek to uncover - a truth that could ignite a revolution. And engulf the galaxy in flames.

Fleets collide in this audiobook in a moment-by-moment account of tactics, heroism, sacrifice, and the start of the final war of the Republic. The stakes have never been higher - and it's winner takes all.

I really want to love this series...

First things first...
R.C. Bray was excellent, as normal. With the sheer amount of characters in the 2nd part, my head was spinning trying to keep up.
This was also my issue. Part 1/Book 3 was great all around. Much the same as how I felt about Book 1. In both, I had a very hard time concentrating and keeping track of characters, time lines etc.
I am hoping we will see the end of this in the next series. These 4 parts seem tho be bringing us to a "current" timeline and the story will progress from there.
Only other comment is about the similarities with the Star Wars universe...
A little too similar I think. IMHO.

Good but not as good as the first book.

This installment had some good moments but random chapters became a noire first person point of view which isn't my taste and I just disliked it to the point of skipping them chapters.

perfect story for RC Bray.

fantastic story arc, great characters and I have always been a fan of RC Bray. but I am more than impressed with how well he has done each characters voices within the story.
to the authors I say Bravo, you have created something more than just an us-versus-them mentality you have created a story about individuals in a major war that you can emphasize and understand their motivations.
I cannot believe how quickly I finished this.

Made me wish I was in the legion!!

R.C. Bray is great. His performance portrays the characters great, with just enough personality to make you want to help out the legion.

A mixed bag

I really enjoy much of the Legion action, but far too much of the plot and other action relies on drama and heroics enabled by incompetence and carelessness by the other side.

The fleet action in the latter half is especially bad. The many single points of failure that systems on the ships and in the fleets have are unacceptable. The entire command deck of a giant battleship sitting exposed on the exterior of the ship? External power generators for shields? Fire control cupolas? Practically no redundancy? All of these things go against common sense.

There are also very heavy and obvious nods to Star Wars, which I found rather cheap and overabundant.

None of the positives leave me wanting to continue with the series. The frustration I felt listening to it simply isn't worth it.

Good military/sci-fi series

Good on the military side good on the science fiction side. Can't go wrong with RC Bray. I appreciated commonalities with current conflicts. it feels like the author purposely made the connections.

Listen carefully

I enjoyed part 1 and 2 of Galaxy’s Edge, but I find myself having to relisten to them both bc I get lost when they jump around time and sides of the battle and different characters. Granted I’m usually multitasking while listening, but I don’t mind listening to it twice bc I catch nuggets I didn’t the first time

KTF... loved it

So after listening to book 2, I went back to listen to the first book and then again listen to second book. The way that the 2 books are now integrated, total hooked me. I am a big Star Wars fan and these two book are now very very close to my most loved Star Wars books (Thrawn).
R.C. Bray voice feels so "on point". I feel I now need to look at other books that he has narrated. And i now need so start looking at military/war books as these books may have made me a fan.

On Par with Book 1.

I love the way R.C. Bray does this series, he is a master of audiobook characters.
I was skeptical about this series after the way the first book ended, but now I'm all in. I wonder what would have happened if General Rex had aligned with the Galaxy's ultimate baddy?
The similarities between this and the most successful sci-fi franchise (well until the last spin off prequel movie that is) are present but honestly - that is to be expected. I mean the original trilogy was massively popular and influential. This story goes it's own ways to break from the typical copycat format. there is enough influence to evoke nostalgia yet enough grit and fundamental differences to make it very much it's own animal. The military references and the quirky parts that make this series different is what makes it special. The characters are interesting and well done by R.C. Bray and the authors should never ever let anyone else read this series, not only for continuity, but for pure entertainment value.
I like how these books are separated into two different times in the republic. There isn't just a fly by pants seat approach to this story that goes on forever like some other titles - just more and more and more to continue the series and it's success, you get the impression that the authors have a clear and interesting storyline here.

I can't wait for the next installment.

Even better

I didn't think Jason and Nick could possibly top the first GE audiobook, but man, Part 2 is spectacular. I'm looking for stuff to do outside so I can keep listening. If you liked the first one, you'll love this. If you didn't like the first one, go back and listen to it again. I can't wait until this is on Netflix.
