Description
All Michael Hollister wanted was death. What he got was time travel.
Convicted of murder, and with nothing left to live for, Michael commits suicide in his jail cell in 1977, then opens his eyes in 1966, in his eight-year-old body, with all memories of his previous life intact.
His first thoughts are of the dark intentions of his father. When the man who raised him once again tries to do the unthinkable, Michael has a chance to right his childhood's greatest wrong. But, can he do that without becoming a killer all over again?
Includes a special bonus note read by the author.

My all time favourite
I haven’t love a character this much since “A Prayer for Owen Meaney”. It took me a few chapters to decide if I liked the story, then I fell truly, madly and deeply in love with Michael. Shawn Inmon is a masterful storyteller and Johnathan brings each character to life.
I will make a bold prediction and say you will love this book too.

Ah Michael...who knew?
Like most who read the first novel in this series I'm sure, my opinion of Michael Hollister was not great...I mean, he killed Carrie! But as I listened I grew to love Michael, and found myself tearing up many times. I have listened to 3 of the Middle Falls novels and this is far and away my favorite!
Well done sir, well done.

Read Book One First
There are precious little standalone characteristics to this novel about "Second Chances". The first book ('The Unusual Second Life Of Thomas Weaver') is essential in introducing the central characters in this book: 'Michael Hollister' and 'Carrie Copeland'. The concept of reincarnation in a past iteration of one's body - and the nostalgic adjustments required - are likewise better established in the first work. Furthermore, the first book leads to a plethora of questions that 'The Redemption Of Michael Hollister' is clearly attempting to answer.
Shawn Inmon is variably successful in answering those questions: solidifying the idea that a second chance can lead to substantial changes in an individual's history is well-established, for example. Unfortunately, he completely ignores paradoxes and introduces a somewhat bizarre quasi-theological motivation among angel-like beings in service of "The Machine" - whereby emotions among the reincarnated are gathered like screams & laughter in 'Monsters Inc.'.. in order to somehow power the universe.
Inmon furthermore completely ignores Michael Hollister's well-established identity as a Sociopath (torturing animals and holding ZERO empathy in the first book) and portrays him as a hard-luck victim that just needs love in order to succeed as a well-adjusted ethically/morally perfect friend & companion. Without reading Book One, that distinction (and interesting take on the "Nature versus Nurture" debate) would be less striking.
Podium Audio absolutely did right to hire a different reader for each book in the 'Middle Falls Time Travel' series (the varying POV in each book - written from the First Person Omniscient perspective - is underlined by varying readers).
Johnathan McClain, unfortunately, wasn't a great choice. He reads professionally enough - but waaay too slowly and with over-the-top melodramatic voice-acting.
Altogether, this installment of the series is slightly weaker than the first. I still rate it a respectable 7.5/10 stars, but strongly suggest not starting with this one (particularly if you are asked to spend a Credit - buy the 'Books 1-3 Omnibus' instead)

Interesting concept
It's interesting for me to think about getting a second chance at life and this story is a great example of those possibilities. It's hopeful.

I didn't think I'd be able to feel for Michael, but I did and felt extra protective of him. Definitely loved this book

Such a well written book
Heartwarming, funny and fantastic writing. Somehow the author manages to make you hate a character in one book and love and care for the same character in the next one. Aptly named too. Talk about a character redemption arc.

worth it
let me guess... you listened to the first one and are trying to decide if it is worth trying the next..
although far from my favourite book on audible this has still exceeded my expectations.. better story then the first. narrator did what he needed to get the story read without going over the top with different voices.. it was easy to listen to and never got boring.. check it out

I am LOVING this series. UNIQUE
I had No idea this book, series, would be so fantastic. it is a surprise each day, each book. It is also a good way to see perspective of 'walking in another persons shoes'. When we only see the world from our angle we lose all reality, all reasons of why people do what they do. These books and the way they are written is so entertaining and eye opening. a true walk in the field of empathy.
