First workout 💪

I wasn't sure how this was going to work on my treadmill but it was great! she let you know in advance what was coming up said I coulld adjust my treadmill accordingly. usually I get annoyed by people talking to me while I'm running but she gave just the right amount of narration to be motivating rather than annoying. The music matched my type of running playlist. I'm excited for the next workout. I like how this is compatible with any level of fitness. You are in charge the whole way. it's actually did feel like I was being coached.

Two suggestions: during the sprints toward the end, maybe give a time check more often. those last 30 seconds can feel like forever and a time check helps keep perspective.

At the end of the workout, maybe give us info on when we should come back for the second workout and what to expect next. A little preview to cue us up for the next workout.

Just finished my first 5k!

Running isn't quite an activity I'd ever thought was necessary unless maybe to get away from zombies or for ice cream (read: complete running novice). But I signed up for a 5k a few months ago to try something "new" and was looking for something to help me train. I saw this for free in audible and gave it a shot on the treadmill (in case you didn't get the inference earlier, running isn't really something I am capable of. It normaly took me 15 minutes to complete a mile on the treadmill).

I have to say, the music and the coach on this audible is pretty amazing for motivation and taught me a lot about form and perseverance. The music is more of a background rhythm to zone out to. It provides me with what I need to get me back in my sneakers to train; I needed to feel like I had someone else who is suffe- I mean running alongside with me, while also providing reminders on form and breathing. It was also helpful because I learned that form was a big reason for why I didn't enjoy running in the first place. I do wish the recordings we're long (for some of us slower runners).

Overall, dear reader, I did complete my first 5k today in 39 minutes (please, you don't have to clap) and didn't collapse at the end. I didn't even stop running. I kept going even when hoardes of small children and other shuffling runners ran past me. But I did it and had fun and didn't get trampled on or die.

Give this audiobook a chance and you too will also learn that, while you might not be the fastest runner, you will definitely be the faster than the walkers. You know. In case of the zombies.

Pretty solid program

To this point, I have done 12 of the 20 runs. My running has most definitely improved. It really helps me to not have to think about when to run, walk, or jog.
It would help to have baseline level of fitness information provided with the program. In my opinion this is not for someone who can't yet jog a mile, or for someone who's endurance is greater than a 20 min run. However, it is easy to skip the endurance runs, and the sprint intervals can help any level of fitness.
The narrator/coach is very repetitive. The same verbal cues and encouragement are heard from one workout to the next.
Music is never going to please everyone. I don't enjoy the selections, but find it fairly easy to let it fade into the background and tune it out.
With this being an outdoor running program, choosing a route without traffic lights, major hills etc would be optimal.
Everything considered, this is a good program and I plan to follow it through. When I have finished the 20 runs, I will likely cycle back through the sprint intervals and skip or adapt the endurance runs to suit.

Not for beginners to running

If you are brand new to jogging or running, this may not be for you. The pace is VERY fast. Couch to 5k is MUCH better for a newbie!

This really helped me.

Whoever the coach was she was motivational and very helpful. I even did the final installment in my 5k and got a great time. Great stuff.

Good training drills but the music could be better

This has good training drills for building up to a 5K alternating between endurance runs and speed training. Rochelle's voice is pleasant and encouraging. I don't love the music. On one of the workouts I was in the middle of running up a hill and the lyrics repeating over and over were, "it's not easy getting older"-- really not the best message for that workout! There are also several songs with lyrics about drinking and smoking. I would enjoy this series much more if it had a better playlist in the background.

Improved my time!

I've never tried an audio fitness workout before so wasn't sure what to expect but figured I had nothing to lose since Audible gave it to me for free to try. I haven't listened to all 20 chapters yet but here's what I would say about it so far: I think this would be great for beginners! I run 3.5 to 4 miles almost every day and have for many years. Therefore, I ended up changing some of the workout to meet my own needs. The first day I listened to it I ended up doing the first 2 chapters back to back because the first chapter alone was too short. When instructed to walk, I chose to jog and I also skipped a few chapters when I found out that they were ones to "build your endurance by jogging for 20 some minutes and that would be the entire workout". I already jog for more than 20 min. and I want to increase my speed, I've already got the endurance. So with that being said, I focused on the chapters that had sprints and runs in them and my speed has definitely improved! It is great to have the trainer tell you minute by minute how much time you have left to do the interval. I can't say I enjoy the music they have. I was hoping for something that would make me feel like moving but it seems more like background noise to me than anything. This audio book would also work best for someone that runs in a flat area as it's a real killer when I'm supposed to be doing a sprint and I have to go up a hill! But that will only make me better I guess! I can't say I will run with it all the time but it has added something new to my day and got me out of a rut so I definitely recommend giving it a try and if it's not quite what you need, just modify it to what you do need!

maybe little too hard for new runners

enjoy it but on class two running a full 5 min? no way, it was a painful med jog at best. pushing pretty hard really quick but I'll keep trying

Great Fitness Tool - Hope it stays

I have been running for years but get lulls in motivation from time to time. Recently, my pace has been suffering. I have already done 7 of these workouts and am beyond thankful for the free trial. It is definitely something I would be willing to pay for through Audible! I hope Aaptiv stays after the free trial. Fingers crossed....

Amazing!!

The Aaptiv 5K running is amazing I am on workout number 4!!! This is the most motivating way to run I have ever experienced!! Everyday I run with the app and it changes each time so you don't get bored from running!!! I wish they had more training to download!!! I can't wait to go running tomorrow I have not said that since I was in college and used to run everyday!!
