When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Publisher's Summary
The next audiobook of psychological suspense and obsession from the authors of the blockbuster best-seller The Wife Between Us.
Seeking women ages 18-32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed.
When Jessica Farris signs up for a psychology study conducted by the mysterious Dr. Shields, she thinks all she’ll have to do is answer a few questions, collect her money, and leave.
Question number one: Could you tell a lie without feeling guilt?
But as the questions grow more and more intense and invasive and the sessions become outings where Jess is told what to wear and how to act, she begins to feel as though Dr. Shields may know what she’s thinking...and what she’s hiding.
Question number two: Have you ever deeply hurt someone you care about?
As Jess’s paranoia grows, it becomes clear that she can no longer trust what in her life is real and what is one of Dr. Shields’ manipulative experiments. Caught in a web of deceit and jealousy, Jess quickly learns that some obsessions can be deadly.
Question number three: Should a punishment always fit the crime?
From the authors of the blockbuster best-seller The Wife Between Us comes an electrifying new audiobook about doubt, passion, and just how much you can trust someone.

Mind games galore
This was my first Hendricks/Pekkanen read. I really enjoyed it. This kept me hooked all the way and I kept wondering what was going happen when the truth was revealed!
The narration was perfect. I believe Barrie Kreinik also narrated The Wife Between Us and it's no wonder why they picked her again!

Honest review
To be honest the only reason I stuck with this or found it was because I love the narrator who without I probably wouldn’t have finished this.
I’ll admit, it was captivating at first, but as the story progresses it just kinda drags along and it’s confusing at the best of times. As well, the therapist person talks with very scientific words that I didn’t understand, maybe because I’m not a doctor but you get the point.
The ending was very anticlimactic and I was disappointed with where this ended up, as it was a really cool idea for a story. As for plot twists / secrets I almost wish I would’ve looked up online what happened so I knew and didn’t have to go through the 20 hours to find out nothing big was happening.
Jessica was a weird character that I couldn’t really get to a level of understanding for, so I was disconnected pretty early on.
In the end I wasted a credit and I wouldn’t recommend. There’s plenty other books like this that are better.

Good but nothing to write home about
Good performance and narrative development, and it also does a good job at conveying the potential violence and power dynamics of therapy, but not amazing. Overall, glad I read it and would recommend as a decent read.
