Description

The best-selling adaptation of the iconic video game Halo: Combat Evolved featuring the Master Chief - part of the expanded universe based on the award-winning video game series!

It's 2552. Having barely escaped the final battle for Reach against the vast alien alliance known as the Covenant, the crew of the Pillar of Autumn, including Spartan John-117 - the Master Chief - and his AI companion Cortana, is forced to make a desperate escape into slipspace. But their destination brings them to an ancient mystery and an even greater struggle. In this far-flung corner of the universe floats a magnificently massive, artificial ringworld. The crew’s only hope of survival is to crash-land on its surface and take the battle opposing the Covenant to the ground.

But they soon discover that this enigmatic ringworld is much more than it seems. Built 100,00 years ago by a long-lost civilization known as the Forerunners, this “Halo” is worshiped by the Covenant - a sacred artifact they hope will complete their religious quest for supposed transcendence, and they will stop at nothing to control it.

Engaging in fierce combat, Master Chief and Cortana will go deep into the Halo construct and uncover its dark secret and true purpose - even as a monstrous and far more vicious enemy than the Covenant emerges to threaten all sentient life on Halo and the galaxy beyond....

Amazing story, well spoken

I enjoyed this second reading in the Hall series much more than the first. although both are good, the voice acting is this has much more effort put into it, while the reader seems to understand 'how' characters are supposed to sound. and nails the tone of voice on them. very few strange pronunciations as well. only issue are a few plot holes that I noticed throughout.

Halo CE the audibook

A beat by beat version of the video game but with a few added stories of different character's perspectives. The sub plots add a nice expanded view of the events that occurred in Halo 1. However, they do not really lead anywhere and serve little more than to pad the Master Chief and his epeience on the deadly ring. The narrator puts in the effort of voice acting and it can sometimes be a little louder than expected when he is portraying a yelling marine. the narrator misproncounces a words or key terms MJOLNIR. it is clear that the actor did not listen to the already established voices for characters but does an okay job. Overall, a good, simply written story competently read.

Pronunciation

The preformance was good, however, the pronunciation of some of the acronyms, such as H.U.D or O.N.I, was been said as if it were a word like Hud or Oni in the games. and since the books are based on the games. It only makes sense to stay consistent with the source material.

other than the acronym pronunciation, the plot and preformance were excellent. A solid 4/5 stars.

Great Sci-Fi Listen!

Fun listen, but a few mispronunciations were noted. Gamers who enjoy playing HALO will enjoy this story version of the HALO world.

It’s okay

Not the best Halo Novel, but a solid sorry. Follows the events of the original Halo video game.

Great book!!

The added story of alpha base along with the humanized thoughts added to chief helps you understand that Chief is human. the games don't show that side of chief

Great Book!

The story is well written and gives you more insight about Halo. My only complaint is with the volume of the narration fluctuating throughout the entire book. Should be a simple fix for Audible to make.

Fantastic story

This story goes into so much more depth into the Flood than any of the games even attempted to, and that's a HUGE part of the story overall. I honestly can't believe I've just now gotten around to these books.

Great novelization of the first Halo game

Loved all the added story details, characters, and side plots. Having played the first Halo game endlessly, it was very easy to track the story progression. If you enjoyed the first game, this will only add to it!
