Histoire
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

Description
Audible number-one best seller Peter Clines returns with a thrilling tale of the creature above - and the deadly threat below.
In the year 2243, the Moon belongs to the dead.
The largest graveyard in the solar system, it was the perfect solution to the overcrowding and environmental problems that had plagued mankind for centuries. And the perfect place for Cali Washington to run away from her past.
But when a mysterious meteor crashes into one of the Moon’s cemeteries, Cali and her fellow Caretakers find themselves surrounded by a terrifying enemy force that outnumbers them more than a thousand to one. An enemy not hindered by the lack of air or warmth or sustenance.
An enemy that is already dead.
Now Cali and her compatriots must fight to survive. Because if they don’t, everyone on the Moon may be joining the dead.
And maybe everyone on Earth, too....
Ce que les critiques en disent
"Narrator Ray Porter actually catches a break with this gruesome science-fiction audiobook. Much of this thriller's cast is composed of thousands of silent zombies, so Porter doesn't have to differentiate much among them.... But he still shines while bringing to life multinational characters, ably employing distinctive accents and timbres. He really ramps up the tension as a dwindling handful of survivors struggles to save humankind from a chilling threat." (AudioFile Magazine)

Great!
I really enjoyed this. It is not your typical zombie book and I am okay with that. There were also a number of times where it made me laugh out loud (think moon gravity and jumping). Well done!! If you are wanting traditional zombie- pass on this. If you are wanting a sometimes tense, sometimes funny, and sometimes sad book this is solid!

Huh
I have binged this series and this last book is weak. The biggest saving grace was the performance of Ray Porter. The story felt rushed and the characters were one dimensional. With a jump into the future this book misses the mark with the previous ones in more ways than one.

If "zombies on the moon" sounds good, this'll do
Solid entry in the series, an entertaining yarn oh, and a bit "it is what it is". I loved 14 and thought the fold had a great build-up to a disappointing ending. This one is far more even and consistent. The highs are not as high but it never dips either. the mystery elements are far reduced from the prior two, instead it's a more straightforward zombies on the moon. And if that phrase brings a smile to your face then I strongly suggest you give this a listen

Good story, bad dialog
Original story, but the dialog is very repetitive, more so in this book than in this author’s other books since there aren’t as many things to discuss anyway, so the dialog feels very much like filler.

Good Book, Doesn't for the threshold series.
I feel like all these connections were made later after the story had been written already. It didn't seem to fit with the other two the same way, didn't have the same vibe and sounded.. cheaper. Ray Porter is awesome though and aside from my opinion on its status as the third book, as a stand alone that didn't tie in like the first 2 in the series, it was a really cool SciFi concept , I just think it could have been out together better, but still worth the time and super fun.

the space suit is the thing
while the story and performances are good, many of the little plot devices they use to create tension don't really make sense for any space program. in a society where they are able to build structures for long-term dwelling on the moon and vehicles, it makes no sense to have airlocks that won't open because a space suit is damaged. logically it will make sense for the air lots to be easy to open from the outside to allow someone in an emergency situation to enter with less difficulty. it makes more sense to secure the inner airlock more than the outer, allowing for entrance and escape from vacuum. given that this device is used multiple times within the story, the questionable use of this technological misstep is even more annoying and makes the story less believable.

Entertaining B Movie Quality
I wish there had been more cosmic horror elements similar to the previous books in the series rather than the zombie B movie shenanigans we get here. Still a decent listen that kept me entertained once I accepted it for what it was.
