Story
Perhaps no figure in biblical scholarship has been the subject of more controversy and debate than Mary Magdalene. Although she is discussed in the gospels of Philip, Thomas, Peter, and Bartholomew in the collection of writings known as the Gnostic gospels that were rejected by the early Christian church, there is no better insight into this mysterious and influential woman than Mary's own gospel.

Their main spiritual concerns were the fate of the planet and the future of their children and grandchildren in an age of ecological collapse. But this Lady barely even referred to the Church and its proscriptions. Instead, she spoke of the miraculous power of the rosary to transform lives and heal the planet, and revealed the secrets within the rosary’s prayers and mysteries.

Story
Letters to a Starseed asks the biggest questions that mystics and philosophers through the ages have been asking: What is the soul, where did it originate, and why have we chosen to come here at this time? As a planet, we are waking up to the fact that the ancient prophecies and warnings from the elders and wise ones are no longer predictions, but our waking reality. They are not just coming or even near...we are living them right now. What we do now matters to the future of this planet. And we all have a role to play. Do you remember why you have come?

Spiritual bypassing—the use of spiritual beliefs to avoid dealing with painful feelings, unresolved wounds, and developmental needs—is so pervasive that it goes largely unnoticed. The spiritual ideals of any tradition, whether Christian commandments or Buddhist precepts, can provide easy justification for practitioners to duck uncomfortable feelings in favor of more seemingly enlightened activity. When split off from fundamental psychological needs, such actions often do much more harm than good.

Publisher's Summary
--WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER--
The Gospel of Mary Magdalene reveals a very different love story from the one we've come to refer to as Christianity. Harvard-trained theologian Meggan Watterson leads us verse by verse through Mary's gospel to illuminate the powerful teachings it contains.
A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed. Fortunately, some rebel monks were wise enough to refuse—and thanks to their disobedience and spiritual bravery, we have several manuscripts of the only gospel that was written in the name of a woman: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.
Mary's gospel reveals a radical love that sits at the heart of the Christian story. Her gospel says that we are not sinful; we are not to feel ashamed or unworthy for being human. In fact, our purpose is to be fully human, to be a "true human being"—that is, a person who has remembered that, yes, we are a messy, limited ego, and we are also a limitless soul.
And all we need to do is to turn inward (again and again); to meditate, like Mary Magdalene, in the way her gospel directs us, so that we can see past the ego of our own little lives to what's more real, and lasting, and infinite, and already here, within.
With searing clarity, Watterson explains how and why Mary Magdalene came to be portrayed as the penitent prostitute and relates a more historically and theologically accurate depiction of who Mary was within the early Christ movement. And she shares how this discovery of Mary's gospel has allowed her to practice, and to experience, a love that never ends, a love that transforms everything.

Empowering stories both of May and Meggan
I loved this book. The bible was always missing the feminine voice for me and I also had issues with Mary Magdalene being portrayed as a prostitute. How could the creation story be whole without a feminine voice and aspect? This book gives a rounded view and power to the female.

Meggan's book is like a coming home, a remembering. Her words soothe the soul of those whose relationship with God, Jesus, and Christianity is in need of tenderness. Meggan's own words read in her own voice remind us about the power Mary Magdalene held, and the need for more women to share the stories of their hearts expanding.

Wonderfully human and divine
Revealing Mary Magdalene by Meggan Watterson
Is a wonderful read.
Watterson creates a wonderful balance between memoir and academic writing. They explore the patriarchal history that led to the erasure of Magdalene, the current academic uncovering of Mary’s Gospel, the exploration of canonical books.
There is a great story about the cave of eggs. I learnt so much about various writings and feminist theory into the reading of Jesus’s ministry.
The exploration of the 7 demons that were expelled from Mary, are explained as the same 7 “demons” or really issue that all peoples need to exercise themselves to fully develop there personal divine.
“God is simply good in us and between us.”
Each chapter is a personal sermon on how living a life of love will conquer the demons. One funny story is Watterson’s fear of flying, so instead she takes the Queen E II, and creates a beautiful memory as she tries to learn from her trauma and fear.
It was a great read for anyone who enjoys spiritual lessons, and recognize the divine within. Although based in Christianity it is not based in any organized religion and is certainly very against Peter, and the patriarch.

Meggan takes you on an adventure to find Mary
I was a bit nervous based on some other reviews, but I ended up really enjoying this book and the format Meggan chose. It feels like she's taking you on an adventure with her and that you're discovering new information alongside her. The reader did an excellent job of conveying emotion. As for the content, if you're a woman and having trouble trying to reconcile with a Christian past, this introduces you to what feels like a big missing puzzle piece.
