Description

The twelve-year rampage of "Missoula Mauler" Wayne Nance - and the shocking end to his murder spree

To his neighbors, Wayne Nance, a furniture mover from Missoula, Montana, appeared to be an affable, considerate, and trustworthy guy. No one knew that Nance was the "Missoula Mauler," a psychopath responsible for a series of sadistic sex slayings that rocked the idyllic town between 1974 and 1986.

Nance's only requirement for murder was accessibility - a preacher's wife, a teenage runaway, a female acquaintance, a married couple. Putting on a friendly façade, he could easily gain his victims' trust. Then, one September night, thirty-year-old Nance pushed his luck, preying on a couple who lived to tell the tale.

A true story with an incredible twist, written by former Wall Street Journal editor John Coston and complete with photos, To Kill and Kill Again reveals the disturbing compulsions of a charming serial killer who fooled everyone he knew, stumped the authorities, terrified a community, and nearly got away with it.

Ok

There's nothing really outstanding about either the book itself or the narration. Just a typical, run of the mill true crime story.

Not as expected

The story is told more from each victims perspective, which goes in so much detail that it is confusing when considering the crime scenes had no survivors or witnesses. I don't consider this to be in the True Crime genre. Other than that, it is a satisfying listen.

The facts do not rate a book

I have read (or listened to) many true crime books and this has been to date the worst. I just don’t feel that the amount of info available on these terrible crimes is enough to rate a book. I wish some had given this an honest review so I could have passed it by. Do yourself a favour and find another book or another way to waste your precious time.

As good as any, if you like these stories.

It’s an easy listen… at first it seems like a lot of history of each character, but then he stays with each throughout the story and ties it all together…

“Glad he’s dead.”*

Flabby but satisfying true crime

Could’ve been shorter and more effective as it goes on a lot of unnecessary tangents. Otherwise as a massive true crime fan it’s a great story and narrator is legit 👌🏼

Not what I expected

Having read and listened to many different books on mysteries and murders, this one has been my least favorite so far.
Halfway through, I had to stop and think, “What is the author talking about?” “Am I still listening to a book about Wayne?”

The book talks more on the history of Wayne and the other people involved and their histories. The author doesn’t talk about the murders very much at all.

Wouldn’t recommend this book at all.

Intense!!

I found the narration of this story to be quite good! This is a very long book and it has so many characters. This true account of this unconvicted serial killer was very interesting.

Good book

Left a bit on my appetite at the end. For me it was missing a bit of a round up, a bit of an abrupt ending for me.

A really interesting listen!

I chose to listen to this particular book on audio, and ended up completely addicted to listening to this incredibly wild story unfold. Based on a serial killer I'd never heard of, and horrified by how long he got away with his crimes, when he was ALWAYS on the peripheral of investigation was completely fascinating.

A must for true crime lovers, no question.
