Histoire
Long ago, long before Sylver the weasel was born, the humans all left Welkin. Now life for a weasel - under the heavy paw of the vicious stoat rulers - is pretty miserable (unless you happpen to be a weasel who likes living in a hovel and toiling all hours for the benefit of the stoats). It's certainly not enough for Sylver. Or for his small band of outlaws, both jacks and jills. But slingshots and darts can only do so much against heavily-armed stoats, and life as an outlaw has a fairly limited future (probably a painful one, too). That's when Sylver comes up with his plan.

Fiver could sense danger. Something terrible was going to happen to the warren; he felt sure of it. They had to leave immediately. So begins a long and perilous journey of survival for a small band of rabbits. As the rabbits skirt danger at every turn, we become acquainted with the band, its humorous characters, and its compelling culture, complete with its own folk history and mythos. Fiver’s vision finally leads them to Watership Down, an upland meadow. But here they face their most difficult challenges of all.

Description
That hero is Matthias, a young mouse who must rise above his fears and failures to save his friends at Redwall Abbey. The villain is Cluny the Scourge, one of the most deliciously despicable rats of all time. The unforgettable cast of supporting characters includes the stalwart badger Constance, an irrepressible hare named Basil Stag Hare, and the elderly wisemouse Brother Methuselah.
But most of all there is Matthias, seeking his true destiny in a journey that will lead through danger and despair to true wisdom.

enjoyable family listen
Listened with my 2 kids (9 & 11) and they were entranced by the story. They rated the performance down 1 star because some of the accents were hard for them to understand but overall we all enjoyed it very much!

Nostalgia
Such a great series and a pure peak into the past. As you listen to the words of this amazingly read and written series i can visualize myself there and all of the nostalgia of my youth with it. 10/10

Great story!
My twin 8 year olds and I loved listening to this book on our road trip! Some accents are really hard to understand though. We can’t wait to listen to the next one!

Cluney the scourge #1 in this story
I watched the show when I was young a few episodes here and there I'm glad I finally got the whole story and fully understand it
the voice for cluney the scourge was my all time favorite i couldn't wait for his voice to come up in the story (cluney is my 2nd favorite villain)
I highly recommend this audio book one of the greatest stories in fantasy 💯

Great except for one thing…
Great easy story but the actor that played Cluny should never work again. Felt like someone was obnoxiously yelling in my ear every time he had a line.

it was okay
not worth the purchase in my eyes. my son and I were reading it and he wanted to listen to a book like his papa. this was a bad choice to start him on. I fell asleep quite a few times. just doesn't keep you enthralled enough.
