Publisher's Summary

"No one gets something for nothing. We all should know better." Teenagers at Wisconsin's Nottawa High School are drawn deeper into a social networking site that promises to grant their every need...regardless of the consequences. Soon the site turns sinister, with simple pranks escalating to malicious crimes. The body count rises.

In this chilling YA thriller, the author of the best-selling Testing trilogy examines not only the dark side of social media but the dark side of human nature.

Need

A good read for a younger audience. Should really appeal to high school kids who like a good mystery where the kids are the villains and the heros

Entertaining

Bought it on a whim and enjoyed it. I am surprised the CW or Netflix hasn't turned it into a show since it would make a nice budget mini series. You don't walk away with lingering questions about the implacations of a consumer driven society. However the protagonist does provide some insight into cyber bullying.

The protagonist herself is aware of her flaws, which is refreshing but would grow old quick if it turned into a series.

The plot has some obviously predictable stuff and some not so predictable stuff. Obviously characters have a tendency to make bad choices.

Mediocre

This book is clearly a teenage copy of Stephen King's book Needful Things. the cast was quite good but the characters and story were under developed. I was disappointed in how the book ended without actually explaining any of the reasons for how or why the entire website came about. Definitely not a book I will read (listen to) more than once.
